Last night while waiting in line foe Soarin' I met this lady that is a cosume designer and she said that she was working on a project for the new garden district to be buuilt in the expansion of the resort. She said it is going to be a pirates dinner show. There will be 2 boats (in the water of course) In 1 boat will be guest portraying pirates. And in the 2nd boat the guest will portray the Brittish. There will be battle in some way but she did not get into any details. She did say that at one point in the show one of the boats will se sank into the water. This sounds pretty cool to me. And something I can't wait for!! What do you think? Sound cool or not??

She told me that it will be located where the strawberry fields are right now. I guess they are calling it the "garden district" right now. As for when, I'm guessing when they add on to the resort. Probably around 2008-2010?? But it is in the works. :D

By sinking I assume it will only be a little bit since I doubt guests want to swim after eating (won't they have to wait 30 min?:D)

But I am taking this with a grain of salt of course...

well not to burst any bubbles but that sounds like the Bucaneer Bay show at the Treasure Island casino in Las Vegas, it is an awesome show and the ship does sink completely under water....and the captain goes down with the ship! We saw the show a few years ago so it may have changed a bit but exact same scenario....two ships, pirates/british....

I knew it sounded framilliar. Thanks, also never been to vegas but I am going to guess that the capitan gets O2 from a diver that is waiting for him.:D

actually my son was buddies with some of the actors and they have dive masks 'hidden' from view right next to them so that they can grab them as soon as they are out of site from the audience, it was cool to watch even knowing the 'behind the scenes' of how he could do it safely

The only reason I say that, is we just got back from a 4 day stay at Treasure Island in Las Vegas. The resort was very nice and we believe we got what we paid for. Las Vegas is great for a mini-vacation.

The show over there is the Buccaner Bay Battle, takes place every night, weather permitting, in front of the hotel resort. It takes place every 90 minutes, and the show is only 8 minutes long! The pirates on HMS Hispanola fight a cannon battle with the British, eventually sinking the British ship. Well, it sinks in about 5 feet of water, but the pyro effects and noise, it's pretty spectacular. We saw it in front of the pirate ship on the deck, and our view of the British ship was obscured. I think the best place to see it is up on the terrace in front of the hotel.

BTW, the theming in front of the hotel is AWESOME! Great job out front, crappy inside. There is even noises coming out over the "village" like horses, chickens, and dogs howling. There is also such detail in the rockwork, "houses," and the ships. We spent about a half an hour just looking over the facade. I wish they could cart that place over to the front of Pirates...it would be awesome to wait outside if the queue line looked like that!

More about the battle there. But this is the first that I've heard of them actually taking the Pirate Battle from Vegas and putting it into the Disneyland Resort. I mean, is this true or not? Sounds kinda iffy to me....

....from Treasure Island. You can view the facade of the building. It would be strange though, to have the Pirate Battle transfered to Disneyland. I still don't know the name of the company that put on this particular show, but if they are dealing with Disney, you never know what may happen. I say go for it, but make the show longer. 8 minutes is pretty short...but if they do the show more often, that's okay,

It would be great to have another Battle Bar at the DL resort so we could get those killer 32 oz Strawberry Daquiris!!!! Whoo-hoo! Those are wonderful! Ahhhh....and they come with their very own keepsake Skull Mug!

There are 2 places inside TI where you can sit comfortably and watch the battle from behind. One is on the Priate side, there is a restaraunt with windows over looking the Pirate ship. On the other side, you need to go into the Black Spot bar and there is an outdoor small patio where you can enjoy a drink (or in our case 3) and watch the show. You do need to get there early. After our group was seated the bouncer person began to really limit the people who went out there. (not that I think it was because the 2 other couples we were with both had big time arguments hehehe)
