View Full Version : Requesting A Character

Has anyone gone to DL, requested a character from a CM and had them show up?
I always hear stories about this happening to guests. I once asked a CM to see Launchpad McQuack and he showed up... I wasn't sure if it was a coincidence or not.
I also read in the Disney Magazine that a little girl asked to see Peter Pan (a face character) and he came out to see her. They took pictures and all.

There are two possible answers to the stories below
McQuack - In most cases asking for a character and having that character show up is a coincidence. If that character is in the area and you ask the right person (character hosts) the host might catch the character's attention for you as the character comes on stage.
Peter Pan - If for some reason there are special circumstances (better then "it's our last day at DL", or "we just now got an autograph book") and/or the character is feeling gracious special appearances may be possible.
Keep in mind this is only for characters in the area...no one is going to wake up the Evil Queen from her beauty sleep because a guest wants a photo. If you haven't seen a character for a while (Kuzco, I miss you) they will not be waiting back stage for a guest to request a meet.

Launchpad McQuack?! That kicks a**! I would've like to see him!
Mouse: Are they not doing character greetings with Kuzco anymore? What about Kronk? Kronk has to be one of my favourite recent characters!
Now I'd like to meet the Princes. Eric, Prince Charming, etc. I've met all the princesses, I want to meet a prince! ;)

I do know that "once upon a time" if you had special circumstances, contacted Happy Hearts WELLLLLLL in advance of your visit, that they can/could make special arrangements to meet one or two characters, but it has to be more than I spent a zillion dollars to come to Disneyland and my kid wants a one on one with ........there has to be special circumstances.. medical condition or something like that.. otherwise you are pretty much at the whims of the schedule....
I've read that you can go to Guest Relations to ask if a favorite character will be in the Park that day-they can tell you when and where. Maybe it's possible to make a request.

Last year, during our annual visit, we wanted to find Woody. We had found Buzz earlier in the day and The Boy was bugging us to see Captain Hook and Woody. We asked a security guard in the Hub for character info, he went out of his way to figure out which characters were out and about (this was during early entrance). Later we wandered into a shop in Frontierland and a CM working at the store acutally called to find out where they were. We did find Hook, near the entrance to the park, and The Boy took a very cute/scared picture with him (the CM inside Hook must have been over 6ft tall). We never did find Woody, but the lengths the CM's went took to help us out was great!!!

I generally ignord the "Disney Afternoon" shows. Particularly since I was employed at the time. (Thankfully, I'm employed elsewhere now.)
Scrooge McDuck I know. Huey, Dewey, and Louie I know. Gyro Gearloose I know (from Gold Key Comics, along with one of his ancestors, Ratchet Gearloose, who was the chief engineer on a sternwheel riverboat Scrooge ran in his youth). Ditto for the Beagle Boys (two generations of them, as I recall) and Magica DeSpell.

Unfortunately Kronk and Kuzco have left the building. They where misplaced by "Chance to Shine" on Hollywood Boulevard. They will be missed :crying:

Better yet ask the Character Finder at the hub (by the attration wait time board) and he/she will gladly tell you how to track down your favorite character.

Re: Kuzco
Is it true that Kuzco could not sign autographs because they didn't build practical hands into his costume? He had hooves which weren't articulate enough to have him hold a pen.
Re: Hook
The last time I went to DL I realized that Hook has a new head. It makes him look meaner.

No!! I loved Kronk, and I only saw him at HPB. That doesn't sit very well with me. Especially with Patrick Warburton down at Soarin' Over California. Hmph.

Yeah! Kuzco was an autograph free character. His hooves were flat and he had no opposable thumb of any sort.
That's funny that you think Hook looks meaner...many people at Disneyland think it doesn’t make him look as mean, like he is almost smiling. But if you thought it was an evil glair…
BTW DisneyLad...did you notice live in the same place? Cool!;)

Hook looks kind of twisted, I guess. Maybe not.
Hey, we do live in the same area! How about that!:D

I dunno... to be honest it seems like you'd have better chances of having a request for Launchpad McQuack fulfilled than of running into him by chance. I have never in the past years ever seen him scheduled to appear anywhere.

Oh man...it would've been so kick butt if I could meet all those characters. Duck Tales was such a favourite cartoon of mine when I was a little kid - in the morning when my mom gave me my cereal, I would watch the cartoon and sing with it! I wish they'd show it again...I wish they'd even put KCAL Kids back on in the morning. I miss watching those old Disney cartoons.

When they had the Disney Afternoon set up in Fantasyland, I shook hands with Scrooge McDuck. He was about 3 feet tall, played by a little person. It was pretty cool.
The "Tale Spin" villain, (not Sher Khan) that pirate dog guy with the accent, put me in a headlock once. It was funny, but unusual... Does anyone remember that character's name?

Oh I remember that the guy you are talking about is Don Karnage.:D
Yeah they had a school with a bell that you could ring (that got annoying quick) And all the sets and such. Anyone remember balloo's dressing room when the Plane Crazy show was there?:D

Don Karnage! I hate to say it, but I'm glad you had insomnia tonight, Nigel2, I would have been up all night thinking about it. :D
Do you remember the first five part "Duck Tales" movie "Treasure of the Golden Suns" or something like that... It was really good. They could have connected them all and released it as a feature. It was way better than the genie in the lamp movie they did...

Oh definately, where Glomgold was also after the lost city, scrooge gets gold fever...
I think it was on toon disney (hey it was late) a while ago, definately would have been better than the movie.
One question why did those series never have a real ending, the newer ones like doug and peper ann had an ending, but why didn't the old disney afternoon get one? Or is it like that episode of press your luck where the guy beat the system?(They never aired it again)

Oh, I SO remember all the Duck Tales stuff. Toon Disney? Is that a separate channel? I remember when the Disney channel would only show those old clips...I think when I was around 8 or something we used to have a cable box that carried the channel until my dad cancelled it. I remember Webby, the butler, and all that jazz. :sigh:

Yeah Toon Disney is their version of Cartoon Network, they even go up to their recent ones like Pepper Ann, Teacher's Pet...
