Well, she doesn't, but it's a nod to the MSEP. The Mulan Parade, which was what replaced Light Magic, had a lead float (the Matchmaker) modeled after the Blue Fairy in MSEP. Then, Parade of Dreams used a smaller, more elegant Blue Fairy to be its lead float. Now, relegated to walking, she has to share stage time with those buffons who can't even bake a cake. The shame of it all.

the lead float in parade of dreams is known as the magic makers..they bring the magic from the stories to life...its not just the blue fairy, is all the magic fairys. maybe they think this way for all parades. have her bring the magic to start the magic.

Anybody know why the Blue Fairy leads every parade? Here's a couple of ideas.

-- The first use of a Fairy in a Disney cartoon film.

-- One of Walt's favorite songs (probably) was "When You Wish Upon a Star".

-- ^^ The song sums up Walt's intentions for the atmosphere at Disneyland.

-- It has been a common theme in Walt's philosophy about always being a boy at heart and having fun (Peter Pan did not come out until well after the park was built).

All points work but one:

(Peter Pan did not come out until well after the park was built).

Peter came out in 1953

Peter came out in 1953  I swear it came out in the late fifties and not the early fifties. I need to brush up on the release years.

It's all good! The 50s era films -- Peter, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Alice -- are my faves :)

It really really is because of the MSEP. At least for Mulan and Parade of Stars (in my earlier post I said "Dreams," not "Stars," oops.) In this parade ("Dreams," NOT "Stars") it more than likely is a coincidence. She's just at the front as part of the rest of the Fairy Gang. She's never been used to lead any other parades.

This theory, however, is likely to take on "red overall" and "unfinished spire" dimensions.

Geek on.
