In the Walt Disney Treasures: Disneyland USA DVD (the 10th Anniversary special), Walt refers to his park designers/engineers as Imagineers and as the field of Imagineering. I thought that in Walt's day is was called WED Enterprises, and that Imagineering and Imagineers didn't come about until Eisner's day. Can someone explain this?

WDI, or 'Walt Disney Imagineerng' is just a name that was adopted years and years after the fact. The folks who create Disneyland have been called Imagineers from the get-go. WED was a company named for Walt's intials and was a separate business formed by Walt, separate and apart from the studio, to bring Disneyland into the world. But despite the unimaginative name, the creative folks employed by WED have always been called Imagineers. The re-naming of the company just sought to officially recognize the long-standing name of individuals in this unique field of work.

Yeah if you got to ride Rocket Rods they had various copies of blue prints and depending on how recent they were the company name would be WED enterpries (like the WED way peoplemover) and Walt Disney Imagnineering.
