Heard this interesting story from Albert (the big black guy who works on the monorail and does all the voices [on occasion]).

Apparently some years ago when they were looking to replace the subs, they were going to remove everything from matterhorn to the street and put in the largest roller coaster in any of the DL parks. This would have involved removing the subs, lagoon, and rerouting the monorail. I'm guessing this was before they re did autopia and rocket-rods. He said that they had the funds to do it, but there wasn't enough room.

In the end, I'm glad they didn't do it. A HUGE roller coaster wouldn't fit in with Disneyland, in my opinion.

Interesting...I'm glad it didn't happen though. The Matterhorn is too big of a landmark to get rid of.

Isn't this the fire mountain roller coaster? I think they are doing a version of it at animal kingdom.
