Two new big figs arrived last Monday. We saw them today, and they are
AWESOME!
Splash Mountain fountain. It pretty much looks like the front of Splash,
where the main drop is, with the tree trunk and roots at the top. The water
comes down the little drop area and also comes down and turns the wheel on
the side, like on the ride. At the bottom of the drop is the briar patch.
The piece is multi-level, with Brer Bear at the bottom to the left, fishing
with his pole. He's kept on by way of a magnet. Next to him is a barrel,
which is also kept on by way of a magnet. On the next level, to the right,
is Brer Fox, with a fishing net. He's kept on by way of two pegs. On the
next level up is Brer Rabbit just relaxing, and he's kept on by way of a
magnet. There are other structures like shacks and windows around the side
and back of the piece. There's a power cord, which presumably drives the
motor for the fountain. The base has "Splash Mountain" on it in the
signature script. Cost is $150.
Evil Queen (from Snow White). She's in her famous pose, holding the
huntsman's box. The box does open, with a knife that keeps it closed and is
removable. A word of caution that a CM passed along - for some reason, when
you open the big fig box, if you try to take her out, it breaks the knife.
The trick is that once you take off the styrofoam, remove the knife before
you remove the queen. We don't know what breaks the knife, but we're
figuring that removing the queen jostles the huntsman's box, which is what
in turn breaks the knife, since the CM said that the knife is pretty
fragile. Her cape feels velvety, and the rope/sash on her costume is real,
with two tassles at the ends. The base says "Evil Queen". Cost is $130.
We saw both of these at Disneyana today. We weren't able to make it to Off
the Page so don't know if they have them. We didn't see any at World of
Disney. The CM says that they're currently sold out, that they have
received a few shipments and have sold out of all of them. They're
expecting another shipment on Sunday and more after that.
We're definitely planning on getting Splash, and we have a friend who's
definitely getting the Queen.
Unfortunately, we don't have pictures because we didn't have the camera. I thought to ask my husband to bring the camera as we were leaving the house, but I couldn't think of anything we'd need it for. Who knew I was psychic?
Happy shopping!
