Interesting menu, but it looks like they still don't understand why the restaurants in WDW are so successful. For the same price point, you get an all-you-can-eat buffet. I'm not sure I want to pay $20 for three courses.

The other bad news is that it looks like the only thing they did model from WDW is INSTANT coffee in a nice restaurant. I was shocked on my last trip to WDW to find Nescafe instant coffee instead of brewed everywhere.

It looks like this insidious cost-cutting measure is hitting DL/DCA. That's too bad because DL coffee was not bad for a theme park.

Sigh. Is this the best they can do?

Interesting new menu/format for Avalon Cove. I'm interested to see how guests react to this, although I'm probably not one to plunk down the $20 for the 3-course. There's a serious shortage of different food at DCA - since Bountiful Valley, Hollywood and Dine, and Lucky Fortune are rarely open. It's nice to see some changes.

I walked into Avalon Cove on 11/17 and they had artists rendering of what the place was going to look like. they also had the menu...but wait til you see the pictures of the food items...The pic do not do the food any justice...It looks like someone picked up a point and shoot and just started shooting...the portion look skimpy, and the fries look raw...For $20 (which is not going to break you) the food should taste better then it looked.

Hmmm.....
Well, it is "comfort food": an improvement, but I still say DCA needs at least one buffeteria-service eatery. Perhaps if the fixed-price 3-course concept doesn't work, they'll take the same menu and put it up buffeteria-style. Or maybe put in a buffeteria-style restaurant someplace else in the park (so long as the Soap Opera Bistro remains full service). But the buffeteria concept has been a mainstay of Disneyland dining for as long as I can remember, and I see no reason why DCA (or, apparently, most of WDW) should be without it.

Just as, as far as I'm concerned, if Taste Pilots' Grill is to consider itself a "gourmet burger joint," then it ought to offer hamburgers that (1) pass the test of tasting good with nothing on them but a bit of salt and pepper (do they? I haven't eaten there, much less attempted to get a plain hamburger), (2) are available made to order, with all traditional toppings (including grilled onions), rather than simply in a few "designer" versions, and (3) have at least one other bun choice besides sesame.
