After reading the tread: Why Disneyland is Awsome, I wanted to start a tread about what some special Cast Members have done to really make a guests day all that more magical. I dont really have any stories :( . If this topic has been covered in the past, forgive me. :D

Wow, seeing that there haven't been any posts to this site, I thought that I would say SOMETHING!!!

Nothing specific has ever happened to me. Not that I can remember, anywho.

But, I just want to say this:

I have gone to Disneyland, Knott's, and Universal Studios in succession. When I have gone to Disneyland, it feels so awesome to be there. Walk into the other places and it just isn't the same. And I LOVE Knott's too! The employees are just different. You see it on their faces. {Not all, of course, generally speaking}.

And, ah, not to be picky, but it is cleaner. : )

I think there was a thread before that honored CMs that would make Walt proud. Don't know where it went, though.

There are a lot of CMs that go out of their way to be very helpful and cheerful, even if they've got a guest that's more than a handful. I had a Guest Services CM named Jahmai handle a rough guest very nicely, even though she interrupted us mid-conversation (I was asking about a show that was supposed to be performing that day). And he didn't have updated information on the show I was asking about, but when I passed by later in that day, he ran after me and told me he'd been waiting for me to come back because he finally had that day's information. I only wish I went to Guest Relations to say that I appreciated his help.

There was a program called What would Walt Do (WWWD) and the people running it actually had pins made up to give to those special CM's I don't know what happened or why they 'shut down' I got my pins early this year (feb/mar) for our Trip in August....

But on topic.. ...as I've mentioned in other threads, my daughter is special needs and I have taken several really large groups of special needs guests to the park over the last ten years and we have been blessed with several outstanding Memories...one was thanks to the CM playing Snow White once....she saw me signing to one of our group and started signing and chating with her....it litterally made the trip for that little one! Another time we were walking along and discussing what we wanted to do next .. debating between the monorail and another TL attraction, a uniformed security officer stopped us and started chatting with our group then personally escorted us to the SAP entrance of the next attraction.....the CM's that "assist in the portrayal" of Mickey, Minnie and heck all the CM's that 'assist in the portrayal' of all the Characters go above and beyond the call of duty with my daughter and her peers........

What it comes down to I guess is that while there are things to complain about the parks very very rarely is it ever the Front line CM's..... the suits put them in a terrible position of being the ones who get to hear the complaints over things they have no control over ...

I am in the same club as mammasilva. I too have a daughter with special needs. The cast members are wonderful to her and us. I have so many wonderful memories of her with the characters. From Captain Hook...who had Kendall feed him (by opening his mask at his mouth) popcorn to Cinderella and her mice who did sign language with her and sang a song to her in sign. They also always take the extra time to talk with her and help her get set up for pictures. Even at WDW, the characters were just wonderful.'

DLR and WDW are such magical places. For people with disabilites, its a wonderful place to go to be treated with some extra special care. I had one castmember tell me when I felt a little guilty using a SAP pass say to me "In this life, your daughter is going to have a lot of trials and not get to be first at a lot of things. Why not let her be special and get to go first while here at DL? We enjoy doing that for our guests." Wow. I felt so much better then. They just go the extra mile for us when we are there. And we are so appreciative of that. :)

Last Saturday when I went to Disneyland with my wife, I saw a CM do something I have never seen before. We were at the front of the line for Space Mountain. A man with his 2 kids were in front of us. Each kid was afraid to ride by themself. The CM working the line sat with one of the kids and rode the ride with them. I guess this is something they do but just don't advertise. Needless to say, the father was extremely happy as were the kids. The father made a point to find the lead afterward to pass on his thanks.

The CM's at Gadget's Go Coaster are always very courteous and cheerful. If you're there late at night before closing, they have no problem with letting you ride several times without running back through the line.

Also, the hosts at Drawn on Animation (especially Justin), they're hilarious! Truly worth seeing the show because they take relatively boring material and make it actually funny.

Oh, Justin can not only make Drawn to Animation a little more interesting (you can't go wrong with a guy who dances during the preview for the new Disney movie), but he can actually make Innoventions funny! I cannot rave more about Justin hosting, and Julie can confirm that!
