I just got off the phone with the resort and booked a room at the Disneyland Hotel for the night of October 3rd. As locals, we usual drive down from Calabasas early to avoid traffic, get breakfast, and then go to the park; however, in an effort to get everything in for the day and avoid rushing, we are going to stay the night of the 3rd at Disneyland. The nightly rate they quoted ($225) seems a bit high relative to other times that we have stayed at the Disneyland Hotel (my daughter's favorite) and I am wondering if anyone knows of current specials that might get us a lower rate. I am locked into staying at this hotel (daughter preference) and do not mind paying the rate if that is the lowest available. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Do you have an annual passport? If so you should wait until the AP nights are extended (assuming they will be) through October. Also, try orbitz, or travelocity or any of the other discounters they sometimes have great deals.
AAA also can save you a chunk of change

Gay Days are Oct 1-3 (yay!) which may explain the higher room rates since they probably expect large crowds (considering the season).

If you are a member of AAA you should ask for the AAA rate. I looked into prices for October that were lower than the rate you quoted above. Make sure you are calling the local DL reservation line and not the Disney travel people. The local number will get you someone who can look at all of the different levels of rates available. The Disney travel will just quote the rack rates you can get off of the website.
