Has anyone stayed at the PP since the renovations and used the pool? Is it now themed? If so, is it nice?

We love the Neverland pool, but on our next long Disney excursion one of the families joining us is on a budget and wants to stay at the PP to save money. Since we all try and stay at the same hotel, I wanted to know what is new and improved.

I have not used the PP pool since the rennovation, but I've seen it and it's a vast improvement on the old rectangle-in-a-slab of concrete look. Not as cool as the Neverland pool, but it's cheery and new. The hotel itself looks really nice as well :).

well, I have a picture of the pool and it looks like a rectangle pool with a water slide that dies not empty inot anything by it....it's on this page if you want to look...http://pixiepics.net/disney/archives/000031.html ...:)

The pool is clean and fresh looking, but IMO a disappointment, especially after Neverland pool. You are out on a cement slab with no refreshments to be had unless you bring your own. And not enough shade areas. In fact, we were not too impressed with the entire hotel. We are sticking with DLH.

What is the slide emptying into? Does anyone know? And is there a spa or wading pool?

"To each, his own" We prefer the PP to the DLH because the rooms are bigger, concierge lounge has MORE to offer!, the hotel is quieter, it is cheaper, and who really cares what the pool looks like! You are in Disneyland for heavens sake!

Really? Our room at the DLH was bigger and so were the beds.

Also, you CAN use the pools at the DLH even if you are staying at the PPH.

I think the PPH pool is ideal for grown-ups who don't want to be around a whole bunch of little kids since most of them will be at the Neverland Pool.

I'm pretty sure there is a jacuzzi at the PPH pool. (I never used it because I was over at the Neverland Pool the whole time going on the water slide and acting like a big kid myself! :~D )

P.S. There may be more kids at the PPH pool now that the waterslide is open there.

There is a jacuzzi at the north end of the pool area. Also, when I referenced the rooms being bigger at PP, I was refering to the Concerge level rooms only. It may be that the standard view rooms are bigger at DLH. We just like the quietness and intimacy of PP, and still be immersed in DISNEY. VIVA LA MOUSE!!!

We were just there a couple of weeks ago...the water slide just ends, not into a pool, just a flat section of slide with water in it. My kids *loved* it!! There is a wading pool between the water slide and the rectangular pool. There is a spa under the patio cover just to the right of the main pool. Life jackets are provided for splashers who want to go into the main pool. Although we didn't use it, there is a pool bar just outside the gate on the patio terrace area.

I agree the last thing I think about is swimming when I'm at DL or any other theme park. Maybe it's because I have a pool in my backyard, but it's just not a big deal to me. We don't even pack suits when we go. I have packed a bathing suit when we went to vegas, but only used it once. I just grossed me out how clueless people are. People were tanning and getting totally sweaty and then going right in the pool. I guess they didn't get what the rinsing showeres were for and then all the kids playing by the steps and just peeing away...well, that was my last public pool experience and I have not wanted to do it again...LOL

I haven't been over to the Paradise Pier Hotel since the pool area was remodeled. Does anyone who has been up there know if the wedding gazebo is still there? My wife and I were married there nearly 4 years ago...

awe, thats so cool.

I didn't explore around the pool area. We only went up ther to watch the firworks one night. There was a large gazebo building, but I think they said it was a bar/snack bar??

One of the reasons to stay at a resort hotel is for the complete experience. We are not people who need to do the Disneyland death march and get up at 7 am to be the first ones at the park and stay there until midnight non-stop. We like to relax at the resort and cool off at the pool. We like the Lost Bar where we can sit outside in the evening breeze and listen to live music. Or just a short walk to DtD for a nice sit-down dinner or stroll through the shops, perhaps even a movie. Our rooms at DLH have all been bigger than or equal to the size we had at PP, and both were equally quiet (or not so quiet depending on how many kids were nearby ;) ) My husband's biggest complaint at PPH was the self parking garage - he had to park on the top level then walk down. There are no elevators in the garage.

There were plenty of kids at PPH pool. That was the best part - getting to chat with all the kids who are at DL for the first time!

when I was there for a convention I remember it was a hassel to self park. We always valet now..:)

we are not die hard disney people either. We were at the parks at 8am, but we left at noon. We did enjoy walking around the DLH property, but we don't chose a hotel based on pool. We don't use them on vacation. I hear enough screaming kids in the parks...LOL..The themed pools are fun to look at though. Vegas has some really nice pools in some of the casinos. One of the cool things I like about the disney cruise line is they have an adult only pool on the ship and an adult only part of the island. Now hopefully the adults do not pee in the pool...LOL

Thanks all, now if I can just get everyone to make a decision we can pick a hotel. My husband is a big fan of the DLH, I like the Grand and my friends really like the PPH.

SCUBAbe , after reading your posts, I think I will be swearing off public pools. Yuck.............................
