Does anyone know of any good places to get really cheap hotel packages? The best I've found so far is www.getawaytoday.com. I managed to get 4 days and 3 nights at the Castle Inn, along with 3 5-day park hoppers for $535. Anyone know of anything cheaper than that? There are three people going and we're splitting the cost evenly, and we're trying to keep the cost below $200 per person (the package I mentioned above comes out to $179 a person, but I'm not against saving even more money :fez: )

Try cheaptickets.com
Check under Last Minute Trips

They had some great deals if you don't want to stay on property

I did my own package. I got my park hoppers at the Disney Store for 129$ each (5 day), and my stay at the Tropicana (right across the street) for 5 nights, 71$ a night. I was going to use getaway, but found this to be 250$ cheaper than them. By the way, I did use them last year, and stayed at the Castle Inn. It was a nice trip.

Getaway Today is the cheapest I've ever found. They are really good to work with too.

I usually do my own vacation planning also. Not only for disney, but wherever I go. It's always been cheaper then getting packages (except in vegas) or going throuh a travel agent. Now vegas used to have great deals pre 9/11 where you could fly and get 2 nights in nice casinos (mirage, treasure island, NY NY...you get the idea not the dives) for sround $1.69 a person. We used to fly there every 3 months. The only time we got a better deal was when I did our trip planning for mandalay bay. It was under $500 for the 3 day 2 night trip including air and hotel. The best part is we got comped for a suite. It was so cool...:). Mandelay was not being offered in the package deal so my BF told me if I could do it for under $500 then we would go...:)

I always plan ours too. I find that I usually have enough time to search around for the best room rates and airfare.

My DH is going on a boys trip to San Fran in Oct. and I am in charge of finding the best deals. Lucky me

Thanks for all the advice guys! I originally planned the trip myself, but when I found the deal I'm getting on the Castle Inn, I ran the numbers and found that it was cheaper. What I originally got was 3 nights at the Park Vue Inn for $177, plus we still had to buy the tickets. The nice thing with the package I got at the Castle is that the third night is free! So we're getting a hotel room on the Friday before Halloween for free! So, all things considered I think that 4 days and 3 nights (including 3 five day park hoppers) for $535 is a pretty good deal!

BTW rentayenta: Don't be afraid to get a little further away from San Francisco when you plan your trip, you can get some pretty good hotels in San Jose (about an hour from San Francisco and there is an airport there you can fly into from Salt Lake City - might be cheaper than flying to Frisco or Oakland, too). Plus, I think San Jose is an interesting place to drive around since you can see the headquarters buildings of quite a few large technology companies (if that's interesting to you anyways!). I had lunch at Apple's employee cafeteria about two weeks ago. Oh, and don't forget to visit Santa Cruz, and see the fifty-year-old hippies!

I found that it is cheaper to call the hotels directly, than getting a package, even cheaper than Getaway Today.
