I saw a post that implied DL is currently working to fill in the holes in the Matterhorn into which the Skyway once flew. Then I did a google search which turned up statements that the holes were filled in 1996. The last time I was in the park, I thought the holes were still there. So which is it -- I feel like I'm losing my mind and I'm too far away to come look for myself!

P.S. Pictures appreciated!!

They are gone. They recently widened the holes the cars go though, however.

I think I know what posts you are referring to and they are right up there with the second sentence in DF's post above and stories of Walt's frozen head being stored somewhere in DL.

This is the correct statement:
Then I did a google search which turned up statements that the holes were filled in 1996.

The holes were largely filled in after the Skway went bye-bye, way back in the mid-90's (though there is a partial decorative remnant still).

Legend goes that someone complained to Walt that they couldn't put holes in the mountain - - he said "Why not? It's a Swiss mountain?" ;)

OK, so the only existing hole is the one in my head. :fez:
