I'm a little bit in the dark about how it works. I know its an, elevator (who doesn't), but how exactly does it work? I've always gotten the impression that the striped part was pulled down from the ceiling and the wood part was behind that, but somehow that doesn't make sense. Are there any CMs out there who wish to share? Thanks.

The Elevator goes down, and the celing stays where it is. Like this:

|~~~~~~~~~~~ |
| ........................| Celing (stationary)
| ........................|
| ........................|
.|.......................|
.|.......................|Car (moves)
.|.......................|
.|...................... | |Door
.|~~~~~~~~~~ | Floor

Yes, I get that part, but are the walls stored up above you above the celing and pulled down by the floor, or are they below your feet when the floor is at the top and the floor just reveals more of it?

Parts of the "wallpaper-and-paintings" portion appear to unroll as the lower portion sinks.

This page on grimghosts.com provides a somewhat more in-depth look at the process. (http://www.grimghosts.com/secrets/MajorFX.html)
The article on the stretching room is about one-fourth of the way down the page. It also explains how the WDW Mansion's room works, and it explains quite a few other effects on the remainder of the page.
