When I was at the park a couple of weeks ago, I was there the day we started to attack Afghanistan...I knew of the attacks because someone had paged me...but most people at the park were oblivious as to what had happened. As I was walking by City Hall, I overheard (actually they were talking rather loud, any one in the vicinity could have heard them...which could have caused some panic) them talking about what to do in an emergency and they were asking each other if they knew where their Safe Haven's were. So my question is...what is it? Any other info would be helpful.

Only one I know for sure is the Esplanade, which is pretty obvious :)

I'm glad I was oblivious at the park on the day the attacks began. It was during MouseAdventure and knowledge might have thrown off my game.
As for there being "safe havens," is that some official terminology? If bioterrorism is to strike the Disneyland Resort, a safe haven is impossible. Ditto if someone uses an explosive device or (until we get Bush's boondoggle shield), launches a cruise missile against the happiest place on earth.
The Esplanade between the two parks may be just about the least safe spot, as you are not searched in any way before you enter one of the two theme parks. As such, a suicide bomber who wanted to cause as much destruction as possible without taking the chance of going through the security checkpoints, would no doubt pick the esplanade between the parks as the place to perform his hideous deed.
Thank goodness that, so far, the fiendish terrorists have completely ignored the west coast. If they someday decide that California is part of America after all, I fear for Disneyland. It may be too much a symbol of goodness and beauty for these creeps to resist.

Safe Havens is the offical term used by DLR. They are the areas which we are supposed to evacuate guests to in the event of an emergancy (fire, earthquake, threat, etc...) There are various areas backstage which are considered safe havens - think of large areas away from buildings.

MactechCM is correct. In the event of an emergency, CM are asked to lead guests to the Safe Haven areas to keep them from harms way and to aid them with first aid and information if it is available.
In my 16 years with the resort, I have only seen them used once (after the Landers earthquake) when the Bonita Tower expirienced superficial damage to the stucco finish of its extirior. Frightened guests were taken to the Hotel cast member parking lot (now the south Downtown Disney parking lot, formerly known as the Simba lot). It was a little odd for me to see guests still in their nightware milling about the cast member parking lot at 7am being served donuts, pasteries and coffee while being attended to by guest relations.
Just for information, the Safe Havens for the Hotels (DLH, GCH, and PPH) are all of the parking areas adjacent to them, and the large lawn areas near the DLH.

I would think that DCA would be a safe haven. You couldn't possible be in any danger there. It's empty.:D
