In 5/5's MiceAge update, Al says:

"Disney parks used to be masters at moving huge amounts of people through their unique and lengthy attractions, and Matt Ouimet and Greg Emmer want to repeat that Walt-era phenomenon at DCA in the not too distant future - "X" marks that future spot by the way. ;)"

Hmm. I read that to mean plans for a large-scale E-ticket. But where do you suppose the "X" is?! Is it somewhere in DCA, or is it in DL?

My guess is that the "X marks that future spot" comment hinted at the location of the new ride being in the area where they used to set up the stage for the XGames.

Unless they would be making an XGames - the ride. Ewwww.

I believe mamabot's first guess is correct. I believe he is saying that the new ride will go where the X-Games resided last year...

He's definitely talking about a new ride to go into DCA. They need a high capacity, no height restriction there badly.

That makes total sense! I forgot about the X games. And they really need to build out that corner of the park. Maybe a new "land" to go with a big ride? Hmm.

I believe this "X" spot is reserved for the Aerosmith Rock and Rollercoaster. If this holds true, it's an awesome ride, rode it Florida and it almost topped the TOT for me...

I have nothing against R&R, nor against transplanting rides from other parks. But, c'mon, I know there are some creative BIG ideas floating around Imagineering. Stuff that'd really put DCA back on the map and give Disney some much-needed theme park kudos.

Reaching here...could "X" mean the strawberry fields?

1. Maybe some X-Files themed ride.
2. Extra-terrestrial encounter. Great, another knock-off.

My hope is that they will put in an E-ticket that all ages, shapes and sizes can ride.

One of the main reasons we stay away from DCA is that there is not much we can ride together as a family due to the height requirements on most of the rides.

Oh, mamabot, I'm so happy to hear your logical answer, because my immediate reaction to that teaser from Al was, "-expletive!- they're going to to make an X-Games ride. How ridiculously dull."

It makes a lot more sense that the X area from last year would be where the next ride'll pop up.

As much as I like Rock 'n' Rollercoaster, I'd really rather a Pirates/Mansion really-cool family-oriented omnimover-people-swallower E- or D-ticket for the next DCA ride. There hasn't been one created of that stature *since* Pirates/Mansion (unless you count the Great Movie Ride in MGM, which, to me, is good but not as good as the early greats.)

I vote for the Great Muppet Movie Ride, as described by Jim Hill awhile ago. What a joy that would be.

while i'd love to see something fresh and new in DCA, i also would love to see the rock n rollercoaster. since so much of DCA seems geared more toward adults/young adults as opposed to children right now, heck, go whole hog and amp up the thrill quotient in DCA.

My reading of Al's article makes it seem like he's talking about a big omnimover Pirates/Mansion type ride with no size requirements rather than Rock and Rollercoaster.

I think Mamabot is right about the X games spot being used for this new ride though. Isn't that spot the Timon parking lot? Basically behind tower of Terror, Bugs Land and the Wharf? I never went to DCA while X Games Experience was going on.

Hasn't the rumor long been that Rock and Rollercoaster would go where they currently have Millionaire anyway? Add a Rock and Rollercoaster in the back lot and a big traditional E-D with no requirements, and DCA might just be worth a full days admission since they now have ToT.

Of course I would still like to see Mulholland Madness inclosed and made into a dark ride. The wild mouse is pretty fun, but with better themeing and inclosed it could be a pretty good ride.

Judging from the amount of space they had for the X games there, a new "land" dosn't sound very appealing. After all, the last time DCA unveiled a new land, it wasn't widely acclaimed because of the small space.

They need to make another major land. I also think they need to make a ride like pirates there instead of the Roller coaster. But I do not want a copy of another ride! I really mean it now that I dont want a copy im sick of it. I want something original like Haunted Mansion. I swear the imagineers have lost all their talent or it's that $%#^#^# Eisner.

I think they could do a lot with a small space if they wanted to. Look how much stuff is crammed into Fantasy Land just around the carousel!

I think its not the size but the oppurtunity that can go in there. You could fit a lot of rides in there just like fantasy land, or like paradise pier, quality over quanity

The most exciting part of this is that there will finally be a circuit in the park! Once this attraction, whatever it is, is built, you should be able to walk from Hollywood straight through to Paradise Pier. There will actually be a part of the park that's not a dead end! Gee, there's a concept.

Right now, I'd much prefer an original e-ticket (and maybe an origianl d or c-ticket as well) go in. Rock n' Rollercoaster might be good down the line, but they just opened once clone. Another right next to it is NOT going to add much purchase to the park. Something new and unique that they can call their own, that won't draw comparisons to other parks (much of ToT's thunder, no pun intended, is being muffled by people's unfavorable comparisons to the original). A unique reason to visit DCA and no other Disney park. That's how to bring people in.

"X" marks the spot where DCA held the X Games Xperience.

Good news:
family friendly "people eater"

Bad news:
transplant from Epcot
El Rio Del Tiempo sponsored by Mission Tortilla

Just a hunch.

ahhh then i vote for that one. I would be shocked if a "A" ticket ride like El Rio would be put in.

Then again.....

Al is refering to a new dark ride that will be the wienie for the new Van Nuys portion of the Golden State. It will celebrate California's lucrative porn industry and feature a giant animatronic hedgehog.

Then everyone will have to be tested one week before they enter the land.
