Go to that url... it has lucky the dino. Have you seen him I never have? I just want to know how often they take him out. This is the coolest thing I have seen come out of the park since Indi.

This is the coolest thing I have seen come out of the park since Indi.Lucky was only out for a couple weeks, made an appearance at the Museum of Natural History in LA, then went into mothballs. He was supposed to go permanently to Disney's Animal Kingdom, but apparantly it had too many bugs for long term daily operation.

Yeah, I think I've seen Lucky.

Once or twice. (http://www.mouseplanet.com/parkupdates/dlr/dlr030825.htm)

Maybe three times. (http://www.mouseplanet.com/parkupdates/dlr/dlr030902.htm)

Now I've lost track. (http://www.mpimages.net/dlr/compressed/DCA/Special_Events/LuckyWJenniferG-090603-AVP.jpg)

It went into MOTHBALLS? So the purpose for all of the money that went into this AA figure was what? Mothballs?

I never heard that it was mothballed, and I'm stunned by that.

Classic rides in the park can't be operated because of "lack of money," but money can be wasted on projects like this...that are subsequently mothballed?

Something's wrong with this picture. Does anyone else agree?

I heard that he was test run and then was taken back for more work and tests and such because they plan to use him and make others for daily use. I did not hear he was mothballed, in fact the article I read on him was very gung ho about his future.

I can't belive they have him listed on the DLR website like he is a regular attraction when he was only there for such a short time and may never come back.

The site says "Lucky's visit to Disney's California Adventure was only a test and Lucky has now returned to Walt Disney Imagineering for a special assignment in technology transfer. When Lucky decides to make a return visit, we'll let you know!" So i think we'll see him in the not so far future.

What other type of creature would you like to see next if they end up making more?

Something's wrong with this picture. Does anyone else agree? :confused:Not at ALL. That's how innovation works. Failure is probably the biggest component of innovation. I'm NEVER upset to see Disney spending money on innovative projects, even if they fail. The only time I'm upset is if it fails because not enough money was spent. Lucky was the first of his kind, and for what it was, it was pretty successful. But something that complicated is bound to have issues on the first try.

Lucky himself may or may not resurface. But I do hope they are working out the bugs and either perfecting Lucky, OR another character (or characters) using the same technology.

Perhaps Dumbo?

I agree. Maybe they should spend more money researching how to revitalize Tomorrowland.

The latest word that I've heard is that Lucky will be having babies. ;) No time frame, however.

It would be cool if they could do something to tie into the 50th celebration and have some of those around the castle or something.

I heard Lucky was now working at the Gap.

Paul Pressler is hiring everyone!
