I've noticed several references in other threads to the mime in NOS. Seems like a good time for a thread about him.

Mimes are scary annoying things, but Lagniappe is a laugh riot! If you get the chance to spend time with him, do. He has been known to lead people on little mini adventures or quiz them on character names.

I've heard he also performs at the Orange County Fair.

FWIW: Lagniappe, according to him, means a baker's dozen.

Close. Lagniappe means an extra little freebie, not limited to food.

I've heard he also performs at the Orange County Fair.Well, this is good that he gets more exposure than just DL, because we all know a mime is a terrible thing to waste. ;)

3894: Heh. Not a bad explanation for a MIME though eh?

Mark was the official Mime for the LA County fair - the one in the commercials. That's where I first met him, and didn't realize he was the "Disneyland" mime. His personal business cards are printed on LA County Fair ticket stock. I wasn't aware he had started doing Orange County.

AVP: I could be wrong about orange county. I saw no mention on his site about OC, so maybe it's just LA, which is the bigger one anyway.

I love that picture of him sitting in the old autopia cars. Mimes really do look crazy!

I like how he's the only one. He probably sees the same AP holders every week, and thinks we're nuts! I wonder if recognizes me....

Morrigoon How exactly did he tell you that his name means Bakers Dozen?

My husband and I first saw Mark in San Diego, at Sea World, on our first wedding anniversary in 1980. He was doing the crowd thing before the show, where he imitated the people walking into the arena, without their knowledge at first. We thought he was pretty funny back then.

One of the times we needed an escort, to take us back down the elevator from the Disney Gallery, since I can't do stairs (it was on my birthday & I was wearing a birthday button), the Gallery CM asked Mark if he wouldn't mind taking us back down. It was pretty funny, what do you say to a mime, when you're a captured audience, riding down in a small elevator? He noticed my button, mimed Happy Birthday and gave me some mardi gras beads. He's been great, whenever we've seen him at Disneyland and always adds to our guest experience!

mill: I wish I could remember how he did it, but for the life of me, I can't remember how he conveyed that to me. Probably had to do w/doughnuts though.

He pretty much freaks out many of the people in the group I mostly hang out with. We're not a mime-friendly group, per se.

I think I recall seeing him at the OC Fair a number of years ago. We just figured he was stalking us. It was funny because we saw two other people there that day that we knew, two of the people who used to be at Rod's table often. Haven't seen them around lately.
