Hi All,
My fiance and I are curious to know how we can find out from the posters here how to find out how crowded Disneyland is before we go there. We have annual passes and have gone the past two weekends at night and have found fast pass distribution sites down and heavy crowds with the ultimate end of not being able to get on a single ride AT ALL until midnight. We are sooo spoiled to have Disney so close but after driving through SoCal traffic and finding all the rides lined out and no fast pass distribution it becomes a tremendous waste of time. Thanks for your input. JWL :)

Well the past 2 weekends have been in the middle of the spring break season, so it's been packed all week not just the weekends. It's not unusual for FastPasses for some rides to be gone by early evening. You could always just wait in a line, even though they are long. You can waste an hour wandering from line to line saying they are all to long, instead of staying in one line for an hour and riding it.

Just go there.

If Disneyland is crowded, go to DCA. If DCA is crowded, go to the GC or the Uva bar and chill a bit. Or maybe grab a mocha, head for the hub and people watch. Afterall, if you're an AP you'll be there again soon enough - so check out what else the park has to offer.

Don't be discouraged. Your last two visits have been during an unusually busy time at the Resort. The crowds even caught DLR officials by surprise. So much so that they extended operating hours at the last minute to accomodate the crowds.

The best part of being an annual passholder is learning to enjoy the Resort despite the crowds. The knowledge that you can come back on a whim frees you from the urgency of the average day visitor. There is so much to do besides rides. You just have to look around and open yourself to the possibilities.

The more you visit the Resort, the more you will learn about the ebb and flow of the crowds. You'll learn how to move about more easily and anticipate bottlenecks from parades and shows. And if you do get caught up in an uncomfortably crowded situation, you can just take a deep breath, relax and remind yourself that you can come back anytime.

You'll also learn from experience (or research on this site) that using the Fastpass System is art. This will enable you to go on many of the major rides without much of a wait. But remember, waiting in an occasional line is actually part of the whole DLR experience. It's the best people-watching opportunity around.

BTW, if you just can't stand crowds, there is an easy way to judge the anticipated attendance - check the park hours. The longer the hours, the more people they expect. Another factor that I consider - if the kids are out of school or people are going to be off of work then they are going to head to the DLR. Least crowded time to go: non-holiday winter weekdays.
