Okay, so today I went with my fiancee down to the park and spent a nice relaxing afternoon/evening at the park. We ended up eating at the Stage Door Cafe and sat by the walkway around the Rivers of America and noticed a small mouse scamper up to the tables to grab some food.

So, have you ever seen something at Disneyland that would have rather not have seen?

Does "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience" count?

Yes. I saw a feral cat trot across the pathway from Ariel's photo op spot to The Matterhorn. With a mouse dangling from its mouth!

See, Bassett1976, Disney is working on getting rid of the mice. :)

I've seen a few feral cats in the park, mostly under the Hunger Bear Restaurant from the Mark Twain. It's pretty rare for them to come out in the daytime but if you keep an eye out, you can sometimes spot them. They usually aren't as blatant as blusilva's encounter though.

And from what I understand, they were brought into the park on purpose. They have been there a long time and folks spot kittens occasionally, so they are a growing population.

Well back to what I did not want to see. I was at disney today. In fantasyland a guy got caught smoking. The CM told him there were areas for this that he need to put it out. So he walks to the side drops the cig and steeps on it. Then brushes it into the drain. My daughter who does not like to see trash on the ground ( she pixs stuff up to take it to the trash can no matter what it is she is 4 1/2 yr)says mommy he did not get in trouble for that y? And it was true I did not see the CM do anything bout it. He saw the whole thing cause he told the guy "let me see your map i will show you where the smokeing sec are" :( I did not know what to say to her.

Mickey's been using his place, to eliminate compititon again, I see. :)

I know there's one thing in Disneyland I did not like to be forced to see:

What the heck does a kid finding a dog, using a Kodak photo have to with the future, or the theme of the attraction at all?! One CM tells me that "Thanks to Kodak's grant, it shows imagination in action, what the insttitue is all about." I just replyed, "Ahh, something had to pay for those plasmas. (Including that really oddly placed one, next to the doors, in the corner.) The plasmas are futureistic, but I thought that we were here to see an inventor of the year, not be shiwn a 8 and half (!) minute commerical for Kodak."

Oh well, I miss the WNN. :(

Hands down, no contest - Mickey's Detective School.

I like see the cats. I've only seen one near the mint julep bar during a really slow day at the park.

One thing I didn't like was when was child was about 3 we had bought her a litlle wallet. She was holding it, bur accidently dropped it. A lady picked it up and ran off with it as my child yelled "lady..lady"....(she coudn't speak much then, but she makes up for it now..LOL) My child was very upset, but we just bought her another one. (it was just a cheap kids wallet. ) I just don't understand why an adult would steal from a child. I would have picked it up to hand it back to the child or parent....

One times at the parks i was in line to use the fastpass and the people before me left all their tickets on the machine and they started running of to get to their next attraction. So i had to run after them. I am just 17 and i know a lot of people who would have just taken the tickets so they could have used the other tickets for more fastpasses. I cant imagine an adult taking a little kids wallet. Some people just dont have Jimminy Cricket as a conscious to be their guide.

I dont think any of us like to see a mouse (besides Mickey and Minney), but it is a fact of life. At the old mousepad brunch, it was a common site in the bushes near the riverbell terrace. That just happens. Same with the birds, ets...

(I dont think they make a fumigation tent that will cover the park..)

The things I would rather not see is the CM's who cant be "onstage". Meaning, the ones who are phone messaging at their ODV cart, who have their discman earphone in while monitoring tarzans treehouse, etc...
(I have reported those instances to supervisors before).
When one is hired for a job, do the job. If you are a cast member, play your role.

This is not to say all CM's are like this.. Most are wonderful, but the minority stand out more.

I like to watch all of the "wildlife" at Disneyland. There is a beautiful Night Heron that hangs out by the ROA or in the Castle Moat. One day I was on the Canoes, in the back, an pointed out the Heron hanging by the side of the river. The CM said that that was a "baaaaaad" bird and that it feasts on the ducklings. I couldn't believe it!

Not 5 minutes later we saw the heron fly by with a duckling in it's mouth, it's poor little duckie feet kicking frantically. :crying:

Since then, I've seen the Night Heron eat frogs, fish and more ducklings.

Everybody sing now: "In the circle of life...."

I HATED that show. I just couldn't stand the blond anchor woman. Way too "community theater" for me!

The preshow I really liked was in WDW, when they did a Kodak "True Colors" show with 12 slide projectors under computer control. This is really old school, but it used to be the best way to do a multimedia show was with stacks of slide projectors. If it's done right it can really be cool, as this show was.

Sometimes the old ways still are the best ways . . . . .

Seeing any CMs or characters out-of-character is odd. I was backstage once and saw a few CMs 'not on'. I totally understand that it's tough to be 'on' for the guests and every CM deserves a breather, but it caught me off guard. It wasn't upsetting, it was just different.

Seeing the backstage of Splash Mountain was weird, too. We stopped almost at the top of Chickapin Hill and were escorted out through the back. There were a lot of pipes and chicken wire in the back area. The paint stops as soon as you pass through the exit door... But I guess this one doesn't count because I totally wanted to see it.

I hate seeing the golden arches anywhere in DL.

Litter anywhere in the park...

Seeing ducks when you were on the Submarine Ride was odd, too. 'I'm really not deep underwater am I?!'

This happened about 8 years ago. My family and I were waiting in the hub vicinity to see a parade or something. There were a lot of people standing and sitting around. The father of young boy, around 4 yrs.old, helps his little guy pull down his pants and urinate on the grass and flower bed...through the rungs of the fence. We couldn't believe our eyes...just rude and disgusting. Of course there was a bathroom very close by, but I guess he didn't think it mattered. It's not like we were out in the middle of the woods or at a remote park. We really wanted to report them to a CM, but the father looked a bit intimidating.

Maybe this isn't what you meant, but: I wish I hadn't turned around to see how they did the "Blue Fairy" effect. (Same with the rotating claws in the beginning of the Haunted Mansion, actually.)

I always want to know how things are done but always regret it later.

We were walking past the Golden Horseshow towards the hub. There was a family with a toddler aged girl in diapers. The girl was standing just behind her parents who were busy looking at a map or something. As we walked by, with the parents not really paying attention, the little girl squats, gets a very concentrated look on her face, an proceeds to fill her diaper. :|

Mine happened well after dark, as the park was emptying onto Main Street for that extra hour of shopping convenience. I was the only human around, so I guess the kitty felt pretty safe in transporting his dinner. ;)

I've seen that heron, too, over in the old motorboat lake. It stood motionless on a rock for so long I thought it was fake! I must have watched it for a good 20 minutes before it finally turned its head. I guess it was waiting for a frog or a duckling to paddle by.

/me joins the chorus of The Circle of Life.

Seeing any CMs or characters out-of-character is odd.'

Sorta off topic, but years back I was at the old Tomorrowland Terrace, enjoying a band, when the 7 Dwarves came bopping in and started dancing with everyone. One of the Dwarves (I think it was Dopey) was bopping in place near me when Doc came bopping over to him, put his head next to Dopey's head, and a voice comes out of Doc's throat saying "move - you're blocking the entryway". And then they both bopped on over to the dance area. It was just so strange. I mean, intellectually I know that there's a person in there, but emotionally I was shocked to cross that line of suspension of disbelief. Overall it was a fun memory . . . . .

Back to the thread: the only things I've seen in DL that I wish I hadn't have been bad behavior from people, usually parents yelling at their kids with no justification, expecting them to be adults when they're only little kids. Kinda takes the magic out of a day for me. I walked behind one father who was non-stop berating his kids for screwing up so badly (I never heard what exactly they did) that they now all had to go home. He was just twisting off on how hard he works, and how tough it was for him to take the day off, and how much money they had all wasted, and it was all the kid's fault. This went on all the way through Fantasyland and halfway to the front gate. Really, really sad and totally inappropriate.

It upsets me when I see parents forcing their children to go on a ride that they are terrified of.....
It upsets me when an adult yells and uses bad language at the top of their lungs at cast members for enforcing the height requirement and it does not effect there children in any way because they must hear that type of language all day at home.....
It upsets me when cast members act like they don't care about their job or the guest....
It upsets me when Guest treat GOOD HEARTED cast members badly....

Okay that was my therapy session for the day. Your check will be in the mail.
