This is a thread for you guys (and gals) to post what YOU would like to see come next for Star Tours. Where do you want to go? What is going to happen??
Enjoy!:D

What's wrong with Hoth?

How about heading to Tattoine and accidentally getting in the middle of the race Anakin wins?

I don't care what the destinations are, as long as the pilot stops saying it's his first flight!

It would be cool if the flight went to Hoth and we were flying with the snowspeeders to shoot down AT-ATs. However, I have a feeling that the ride will tie in more with Episodes 1, 2 or maybe even 3 more than Eps. 4-6.

Whatever it turns out to be, lets hope they do get a new script too. I agree with MickeyD about the gag getting old. I hardly ever ride it anymore unless I'm with a friend who hasn't.

I think the capital planet would be cool.

I think it would be cool to go to Naboo - it's the only planet in the Star Wars universe (so far) that's got more than one natural environment. Theed's a really beautiful city, there's lot's of underwater stuff that could be explored, and participating in the climactic Gungun battle would be very exciting.

However, in light of my preference for "classic" Star Wars, I think the last moments of Alderaan (before it's blown to pieces) would be fascinating (if somewhat macabre). We could then pursue the Death Star in vengence, maybe even getting pulled inside by a tractor beam. There could then be some walk-thru part of the attraction aboard the Death Star. That would be neat! Disney should take some lessons from the excellent Star Trek attraction in Vegas. Combo of motion simulator with walk through portions of famous settings is a real crowd pleaser.

Here's an idea I had brewing for awhile:

IMPERIAL STAR TOURS

Based on the period between "Empire Strikes Back" and "Jedi".

Marquee idea: The happy Star Tours logo has been overshadowed by a large corporate marquee saying, "New Imperial Star Tours". The building's color scheme would be composed of darker menacing hues.

Queue ideas:

1. When you enter, CM's would be dressed in Imperial Costumes and their demeanor would rival Jafar's snobbery. They would be kind and helpful just not smiling as much.

2. As you walk in, C3-PO and R2 tell us the story of how they were captured and now service the Empire, just not very well. We see them mess things up on occasion.

3. The Calamari men in the booth are now being guarded by Stormtrooper animatronics. The large screen now touts a glorified propaganda piece about a trip to Coruscant to view the Empire's growing might in the universe.

4. The Droid room would be rehabbed to be a section starring Jabba. He has been nicely accommodated in one of the Empire's guest suites. We see a large animatronic Jabba, that really need not move very much, Disney would love that idea, with Bib Fortuna speaking to the guests and Salacious Crumb laughing at guests from time to time...

5. The flashing wall with the droid silouhettes would be his droid torture room.

6. Above we would see baskets on conveyor belts carrying edibles for Jabba's lunch.

7. We are flanked on one side by the Emperor's Royal guard who need not speak but move from time to time.

8. We are escorted to watch the pre-flight film. The film still stars the tea-cup Lady but she has now been given an Empire propaganda script which she is unfamiliar with and doesn't agree with. From time to time she is urged on by a stormtrooper and is joined by an Imperial commander who is monitoring her every word.

9. The safety film is filled with Empire supporting characters: bounty hunters, aliens, guards etc.

10. At the end of the film, she tells us to enjoy your ride despite being political prisoners. She gives us a reassuring wink - a hint for things to come.

The Ride:
11. The Starspeeder now has an animatronic Tie Fighter pilot, all in black from "A New Hope", commanding it.

12. The smaller screen shows a random R2 unit piloting your ship. Seconds into launch, the smaller screen to the right shows R2D2 deactivating the other R2 unit and taking over the flight controls by discarding the other R2 unit.

13. The Tie fighter pilot slumps over after being hit by a laser blast. A pilot appears on the smaller screen saying that the Rebellion has taken the shuttle over and now every one is now asked to participate in a secret mission designed by Princess Leia to locate and destroy a secret Imperial weapon of destruction hidden within the city of Coruscant.

14. The flight continues with a chase by Imperial Tie Fighters, Interceptors and a shuttle. We weave through Coruscant.

15. We become surrounded by the Empire and all seems lost when we are saved by laser blasts from nowhere. The Millenium Falcon, piloted by Chewie, appears and escorts us to a secret launch pad. We destroy the secret base housing an enormous skeletal replica of the Death Star which is not yet finished.

16. We blast into lightspeed to escape. We land to be greeted in the docking bay by a rag tag collection of Rebel supporters who all tell us they couldn't have done it without us etc.

The Exit:

17. Hearing the throne room march from the end of "A New Hope", we exit into a rebel base complete with its gift shop.

My idea for this rehab needs only minor adjustments to the existing ride. No structural rennovations are needed. Jabba would be the only major money factor.

It would keep the ride in line with the sequence of the films.

Any comments?

OK Doc, you're hired.

Hope you had that all copyrighted before you posted it. It's too good not to be stolen (if only that weren't too good to be true).

Doc, as a dedicated SW and Dland fan, I bow to you, most respectfully. :)

That is the BEST ride renovation idea I have EVER heard regarding ANY ride!!!! (you like hyperbole, yes?)

If only. But of course they would never base a whole new ride concept on an old movie idea, especially with the new episodes and all.

Jerks. heehee :p

I've always had this idea of rehabing Star Tours to this:

a)The exterior building could look the same, it could use a little coat of paint, and new mural maybe.

b)The queue area could look almost the same, but put some more droids and props, like lightsabers, blast rifles, ship parts and a new idea: put a lot of sliding doors that open every now and then, and people dressed like pilots, mechanics and aliens could be circulating the area. Also put windows that look at the maintenance bays with views of famous Star Wars ships(Millenium Falcon, Tie Fighters, Tie bombers, Naboo Starfighters, Slave I, Landspeeders, Snowspeeders and A, V, Y, and X fighters). The preboarding movie could be upgraded, and add posters of all the planets we are going to visit.

c)The whole movie will be upgraded, Wrecks will be the same pilot, with a whole new speech(it could also be his first flight, again), the simulator will move more, and with some new effects like temperature changes(cold, hot), smoke, and lasers. We will tour a lot of more planets, and battle scenes, the movie sequence would look like this:
-The Star Tours spaceport-. We will now have a better view of the spaceport, we will see the boarding platform, the maintenance bay, and the landing platforms. When we finally get out we jump to lightspeed to the first planet:
-Tatooine-. We aproach the arid planet, and we sense a hot atmosphere, we get closer to the ground and get shoot by Tusken Riders, then we see the Jawa Camp and see some Jawas making rude(in a nice way) faces at us. Then we pass near a sand monster and crash to a small mountain(no major problem here), we see some landspeeders and we get near a city, Mos Eisley and see some Banthas and Traders, and maybe Mon Calamari and some Hutts. At some distance we see Watto's shop and then we pass the Podracers Stadium and see that the race is about to start, we get a glimpsee of Jabba the Hutt, we'll the race starts with a scream of the two faced announcer and we follow racers like Anakin, Neva Kee and Sebulba in the Bonta Eve Classic, we follow them closely through gaps and holes, and in the end we see that Anakin has won. We gain more altitude and we are out of this world:
-Naboo-. We pass near a small fight of the Trade Federation against the Gungan and to escape we have to get into the water, we see the Sunken City of Gungan and we get attacked by some sea monsters, we finally get to the surface and get hit by a Trade Federation Fighter Droid. We get into the fight and help the Gungans win this fight, nut not the war. We race through the forest and get to the city of Naboo, and see the beauty that this is, suddenly we get a radio signal that Queen Amidala has to evacuate the planet, and we get to be her guards, we get to space again and jump to lightspeed as well as the Queen's beautifull silver ship, and we get to:
-Coruscant-. There is not much to see here but all the big city that this planet is, we see the Jedi Council, and get a glimpsee at Yoda, we then get to the planets atmosphere and a familiar ship passes whizzing near us, and stops in front of us:
Meteor Field: it's the Millenium Falcon, we get a radio signal that we have to follow him, and some lasers try to hit us and them, we begin to gain speed and get into a meteor field, following the Millenium Falcon, and we pass trough them, we pass trough an asteroid here too, we then get out safely and aproach the next planet:
-Yavin-. We pass near the Yavin's Spaceport were Rebels prepare to fight, we join a group of X-fighters, and the Millenium Falcon(now with Princess Leia on board), and get to outerspace where the Death Star await us:
-Yavin Battle-. We get in a little fight against the Empire destroying Tie Fighters and get a glimpsee as how Luke destroys the "first Death Star" and a pair of Star Destroyers, we now escort Princess Leia to the next planet:
-Hoth-. As we aproach Echo Base, we pass near Tantauns, and near the North Ridge, then we see a Probe Droid, and realize that we are in toruble, we get up a hill, and we see Echo Base, being attacked by AT-ATs and AT-STs and of course the Rebels are protecting therselves with snowspeeders and Gun Turrets, we help in the fight and unfortunaly have to escape to the next "planet" following Han Solo, and his Millenium Falcon:
-Bespin-. We aproach the cloud city and a group of Twin Figthers attack us, we see that the Millenium Fighter lands and their passengers get attacked and then the Slave One takes the carbonited Han to Hutt, we follow him and realize as well, that Luke get to Bespin to help his friends. We continue to follow Boba Fet and we return to Tattoine:
-Again Tattoine-. This time is no peacefull flight, we pass near Hutt land ships, and we try to rescue Han, then Luke gets here as well as the Millenium Falcon, we destroy Jabbas ships and save Han, we get to space again and find a Rebel Ship we make a small stop here(disembark Princess Leia) and then we head to:
-Endor-. Almost the final part, and the most challenging, we get near the ground, through the woods, and get attacked by AT-STs and biker scouts, fortunely we get helped by Ewoks, we then follow a group of Rebels and help them destroy the Power Generator. Now we head to outerspace again and find that the "second" Death Star and some Star Destroyers, as well as some Tie Fighters and Interceptors are waiting for us. We join the rebels and again win this battle. But wait what's that? The Trade Federation Ship, we join the Naboo fighters and help them destroy it. Few.
-The Star Tours SpacePort again-. We aproach the landing platform, but were are the breaks?, breaks?(just kidding). THe final scene is a group of all the Stars of Star Wars waving at us, cool.

d)And last but not least we enter a new part of Star Traders, a part of the Star Tours Spaceport Headquartes, complete with shop and character greeting area.
________

There are a lot of things that could be done to this atraction, like add the Shadows of the Empire scenes and others like Episode II and III.
I know that all of my ideas are out of time, I mean combining scenes from all the episodes, but it's all for the good of this, one of the best atraction, that need a good rehab(not that this atraction is bad, it's one of the best).

Doc: LOVE it!

I like totbellhop's idea too, but it would get to be a tad long. Maybe split the trips up into separate adventures, and have each sim do one of 4.

Wow. I wasn't expecting queue renovations. Actually, I've always thought that the exit area is kinda bluh.
But as for the flight, I have two, to be posted at different times.
Tatooine...
The trip to Tatooine should start off in a normal way, featuring a blast out of the launch tunnel from zero to whoknowswhat that can rival the lightspeed launches.
We approach Tatooine and recieve clearence to land... but it's not anyone we recognize...
We recieve a frantic message from home telling us that Mos Eisley has been taken over by Imperial Troops.
After a harrowing aborted launch, we skim through Mos Eisley at a huge speed and find ourselves over empty desert. We hope to get out of there, but suddenly Artoo sees a fleet of TIE-Fighters coming towards us. There's only one place to go: Beggars Canyon.
We are followed by the TIE-Fighters into the canyon and are forced to go deeper into the darker places in the canyon, narrowly avoiding a Sandcrawler and a Tuscan attack. The TIE's we see, are having difficulty following; REX seems to have gotten better. But suddenly we face a huge hovercraft vehicle in front of us. What we see and they don't is the needle up ahead. They hit it and erupt into a huge fireball, which we go through and thread the eye of the needle. As we go through the fireball, fire erupts from the doorways, just to add a little heat.
Lightspeed home and hopefully avoid that fuel truck.

Star Wars deserves more than just a ride... I would like to see an entire Star Wars Land, or a Star Wars Plaza as a sub-land of Tomorrowland.

An entirely new (hardware -and- software) Star Tours would be the centerpiece, augmented by a restaurant, a Dark Ride, and a walk-through attraction.

The area could be themed to any Spaceport from the Star Wars universe. Mos Eisley comes to mind.

Star Tours should have branching storylines. There could be a few minor events that may or may not happen, and a few possible endings. This would seem fairly easy to accomplish with modern non-linear digital video technology.

I love Doc's ideas. Coruscant would be the ultimate destination!

But as I said, I think it's time they start from scratch. Simulation Technology has come a long way since the 80s, and Star Wars deserves state-of-the-art tech!

Mission I: We make it to Endor, then spend the time there flying hrough the trees blasting Ewoks into goo.

Mission II: We go to Naboo and fly around looking for Jar-Jar. When we find him, GOO.

Mission III: Tatooine, blue junk dealer and annoying cackeling Jaba pet, goo.

Mission IV: reserved for annoying character fron upcoming movies. I don't know what they'll be, but they are sure to be there.

But seriously, wouldn't it be cool to combine Star Tours and Buzz Lightyear. A Star tours Mo-Sim that holds about 12 people, 3 facing in each direction. We're controlling various gun turrits on a ship(think Mellenium Falcon escape from Death Star). We are in the attack on Death Star from "Return of the Jedi". We weave in and out of Star Destroyers, blasting Tie fighters and gun turrets on the Star Destroyers. In the end, we fly into the Death Star, help blow the reactor, then race out before it blows.

Wow, this thread has unleashed a torrent of cool ideas! Guess that's what can happen when you combine two strong fan bases like Disney and Star Wars.

ToTbellhop - your scenarios are outrageous and thankfully too long for a single Star Tours attraction. But that's exactly the solution that's needed. Since we aren't moving through any physical space, how hard is it to produce 4 different films and offer different tours at once? I think the public can handle it. When you're going to keep the same attractions around for decades (mostly without ever changing them), it's probably a good idea to start building some alternative experiences into them from the get-go. Motion simulator rides are perfect for this kind of concept. It may be more expensive to produce several effect-laden films, but it's far cheaper than building actual environments. If we're going to get the cop-out type of attractions (i.e., motion simulators), let's at least get ambitious ones. IMHO, of course.

Here's my next one:
Trip to Yavin 4, you know, the site fo the first rebel base?
Upon Arrival, however, we see that the Rebel base has become an imperial base. We take a quick turn and plunge through the trees, ala Return of the Jedi. Speeder bikes come after us and we see them coming up from the sides.
In this harrowing race through the trees, we dodge temples, trees and such.
There is a clearing ahead, but suddenly the ship stalls, cooling systems overheating.
Stormtroopers approach the shi, forming a perimeter. ATST walkers approach.
We hear the tapping on the doors as if Storm Troopers are trying to force their way in.
Suddenly, there is an explosion (fire, smoke) from the front of the ship, obviously at one of the cockpit doors. Suddenly, the ship begins to vibrate as all the lights turn green.
Rex blasts the ship away, blasting out ATSTs and accidentally shooting the fuel truck. We zip through the blazing inferno (HOT!) and lightspeed home.

did u guys know that alot of star wars was taped in death valley, california?Well, no, "a lot" of it wasn't. Some scenes in the first film (Episode IV), primarily of the Sandpeople getting onto their Banthas and some pick-up shots of R2-D2 moving through the canyons, as well as the Mos Eisley "hive of scum and villainy" shot were photographed in Death Valley. But much of the film was shot in England, as well as Tunisia and Guatemala.

Maybe the ride could be a time machine that takes you back to before Lucas came up with thr crapola that is Episode 1 and 2.
