I had a chance to enjoy HalloweenTime at the resort yesterday. They were working on this in the lobby of the Grand Californian Hotel (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1039247388035018752), in the space where they normally have the holiday display. I was amused that many of the popcorn carts had the new Halloween popcorn buckets but the paper cartons were still from PixarFest. (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1039258217161707520)

One of the things on my list to try for the HalloweenTime foods was the pork belly tacos at the truck in Hollywood Backlot where they have/had the Guardians food. The tacos were ok but not as flavorful as I had expected/would have liked. (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1039260836672356352) I got my HalloweenTime AP buttons from AP corner next to the Black Panther meet-and-greet area. (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1039263133020303360) The rectangular one is the regular one, and I think the purple one is this week's special button. I presume the color will change every week. Black Panther and his guards were out greeting guests at the time. (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1039263810152890373) On another Marvel note, at one point while I was walking around the Hollywood Backlot, Spiderman walked past me, and I almost called him Tom...

Bug's Land is closed and the walls are up. I amused myself. (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1039267716123713536)

I needed a substantial snack so ended up having the shrimp salad from Harbour Galley. It was pretty good. (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1039283753950928896)

I had a chance to ride Haunted Mansion Holiday, and I found the monkey bride on the first try. She's a bit more hidden this year. I didn't get a chance to find all the boxes with the design of Sally's dress. I wasn't as impressed with the gingerbread house this year as previously. It's probably going to prove a bit scary for some people. I did get a chance to take video of the stretch room with a relatively quiet crowd. (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1039296418106798080) No spoilers as it's the same as in previous years.

And I was sad to confirm that they didn't bring back the Junkyard JamBOOree to the Cozy Cone Motel. (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1039307371527323648)

At some point, I want to try the Oktoberfest dog at Award Wieners and the mac and cheese cone at Cozy Cone Motel, but both had fairly substantial lines when I walked past them yesterday, so I didn't stop. I also want to have some of the bacon cheddar ale soup at the wharf. I wasn't feeling the desire for hot soup yesterday. I also didn't ride Ghost Galaxy or Monsters After Dark yesterday. Hopefully, another day.

Sounds like you had a great day at the Parks! I sampled a few of the new Halloween treats and found a few I enjoyed and one I didn’t care for.

The ones I enjoyed were the Bacon Cheddar Ale soup for Pacific Wharf Cafe, the Sweet Potato Hand Pie from Jolly Holiday, and the Pumpkin Spice beignets from the Mint Julep Bar.

The item I didn’t like was the Haunted Ghost Chicken Sandwich from Carnation Cafe. The cheese was a blend of white American and something else and make the sandwich super soggy.

Love Monsters After Dark and think Ghost Galaxy is the worst version of Space Mountain.

Thanks for the review! Can't wait to go on Halloween night the only downside is that most everything special for Halloween(popcorn buckets etc) are completely sold out by then. We'll definitely be getting our AP pins!

Thanks for the review of the items you tried. I've done a walk through as well but in the daytime on Saturday. I have tried the Spicy Pepper Jack Dog, the Pumpkin Bread Pudding, and again the Spoke-y Cone (which I really enjoy). The cheese dog was gooey and the subtle drizzle of raspberry and spicy dust and jalapenos was very nice. Not amazing - but I liked it. The bread pudding had a very good flavor and the toffee chips were a nice touch - but the texture was a bit soggy for me. I like my bread pudding to be extremely moist but keep its shape until I dig in. I also tried the Musubi special at Bengal Barbecue on Friday. I was disappointed. Presentation and flavor were kind of lacking.

I too want to try the Oktoberfest dog and I hear that the blood orange blonde beer at Pacific Wharf is supposed to be very good. and so many treats I'll have to run extra. Looking forward to more adventures soon.

We tried the duck confit empanadas at Carthay Circle Lounge. Yummy and suprisingly filling. Watch out for the dipping sauces! We were told that one was hot and one wasn't. Um, both were hot! The flatbread was yummy, too. The purple poison apple glow cube can be put into a non-alcoholic beverage as long as you pay the appletini price.

I was interested in the Spicy Pepper Jack Dog but I don't want the raspberry drizzle. I suppose I can ask them to leave it off. I don't care for fruit in my food. I finally tried the "changing flavor" (aka three flavors) dog offered for PixarFest on the last day I was there, and I tasted the fruit-flavored dip and decided to forego it. Oh, one question - is it just cheese or is there actually a hot dog in there too? I didn't realize the three flavored dog had just cheese as one of the flavors. If it's just cheese, even though I like pepper jack, I'd pass.

Major question - does the bread pudding have any raisins in it? I hate it when they ruin perfectly good bread pudding by putting raisins in it, and then not telling you about it to boot.

I love the duck empanadas. I had the good fortune of being there the day after they debuted back in May. They were larger than I expected - a good serving size. I did love both sauces - very different flavors.

No raisins in the bread pudding - it's pumpkin bread so the flavor is a little different.

LOL I thought it was just me. I am not a fan of raisins so I am glad to hear its not in the pumpkin bread pudding. Will have to give it a try.

Why bother calling it a dog when there's nothing dog about it? Ugh. Thanks for the info. I'll skip the cheese and it's a go on the pumpkin bread pudding!

They finished the Halloween display in the lobby of the Grand Californian Hotel (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045091772672557056). They also have various treats for purchase at a nearby table, see here (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045100452990181376)and here (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045100665205182464).

I managed to pick up all the AP buttons (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045101420876201984)for Halloweentime.

We attended Mickey's Halloween Party last night and had a lot of fun. The AP outpost is in Tomorrowland, downstairs next to the Starcade. Love the giveaways they had. (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045122482187853824)

There was quite the variety of treats being given away at the party. Here's a look. (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045155172949708801) And another. (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045443499816935424)

I'd been looking forward to seeing the new-to-me parade, including the Headless Horseman. I found the pre-parade of the Headless Horseman (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045184961299410944)to be a let-down. I expected more.

I did really enjoy the parade. I liked the prior mini-parade as well because it was cute, but this was much more of a full-fledged parade, with gorgeous floats. I posted a bunch of pics - one (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045440091726860288), two (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045440434602995712), three (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045440679088807936), four (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045441028444975104), five (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045441363477651456), six (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045441607560908800), seven (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045441969856466946), eight (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045442609114570752) and nine (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1045442927273500675).

Can't wait until Friday! I want to try the bacon cheddar ale soup based on the above, and will likely get pumpkin beignets even though I've gotten them in years past.

Looking to also try the cookie shot glass in Grand Californian -- has anyone gotten this? Is it a mess or amazing? Also looking to try the cake that had churro mousse filling, but now I'm not finding it on any of the lists I bookmarked -- anyone else know what I'm remembering, or did I mis-remember this?

you may be thinking of the Coco cake at Paradise Garden Grill. It is layers of sponge cake filled with a cinnamon churro mousse and cream cheese frosting. I loved it (though the churro mousse has not been a favorite of other reviewers. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQNTJPR0HIJx23WDpVEu4Uf6QPNkcwDZ uypZdGj8Gci-3mT4RIXZQ

Are the neon Oogie Boogie popcorn buckets available during regular hours or only during the MHP? I was looking up info on the new tiki mugs and ran across a Disney Parks Blog article that made it sound like the new neon buckets were party exclusives.

no - they are available at multiple locations throughout the resort during regular business hours. Unless they sell out, of course.

So. Much. Sugar. We had the pumpkin spice beignets, pumpkin spice churro, cookie shot glasses, Coco cake, and Salt & Straw ice cream today. These things were all shared and eaten over many many hours, but still. The only disappointing thing in the bunch for us was the cookie shot glasses. The cookie was MUCH harder than I anticipated, and I didn't realize the inside was coated in chocolate -- that prevented the milk from soaking into the cookie, which is what I'd been picturing. The pumpkin spice beignets were different than I remember from years past -- I thought the dough was previously pumpkin spiced? Now they seem to be the regular beignets, but the powdered sugar also has pumpkin spice in it. Still good, but much more subtle. The Coco cake was my favorite -- loved the churro mousse filling and the cream cheese frosting, and the cake was really fresh and moist. Salt & Straw was much less crowded than I thought it would be, but they did have a lot of people working, so perhaps they were just handling it well. We tried multiple samples, and I ended up getting a scoop of the Great Candycopia, one of the seasonal/Halloween flavors. So good! Will be going back there, despite the fact that it's on the expensive side.

Hopefully the rain tonight didn't ruin it for the party-goers! We were nearing the end of our day anyway when it started, but I could see rain making trick-or-treat trails much less fun :-/

Glad you had a great, sugar-filled day! :) The rain started, complete with lightning show, during the Toontown Pre-Party. We had rain jackets stashed in a locker, so we hightailed it to Main Street just in time before the storm hit. Great lightning show throughout the evening. (Some guests thought that it was all part of the party -- yes, those Imagineers think of everything!) CMs and characters did their best to keep everyone's spirits up. HMH had the expected long line of the night (about 30 minutes?), but everything else was short. POTC was a literal walk on. Haven't experienced that in a while. Everyone got pretty wet, but had a fun time anyway. The one sad thing about the rain was that all the costumes were covered in ponchos, so we didn't get much of chance to see what other guests were wearing.

Took this picture of the Grizzly Peak bear from Carsland (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1054060469311365125). I liked the juxtaposition of images.

We also had a chance to do the Halloween-themed tea version of tea at Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel. Fun as always. Went back to the Halloween tea today to celebrate a friend's birthday, and they brought her a special treat. I was also glad that they got strawberries back - the Oogie one was really cool. (https://twitter.com/cstephens2/status/1057765274089189376)
