Eisner cheered at opening of 'Snow White' (http://www2.ocregister.com/ocrweb/ocr/article.do?id=82141&section=LOCAL&subsection=LOCAL&year=2004&month=2&day=22)

Eisner made a surprise visit to Disneyland for the premiere of the theme park's new musical, "Snow White." He smiled for the cameras, waved to supporters and talked about the classic Disney show as he strolled down the red carpet.

But he declined to answer questions related to the turmoil that his company has faced in recent weeks

Posturing. Pure and simple.

I like how they say it was a surprise visit. He said on Larry King he would be at the park in Saturday to see Snow White.

This visit was not a "surprise." This was a planned photo op to distract the continued calls for Eisner's ouster.

The previous poster was correct - Eisner signaled his intent on Larry King's show.

And on Thursday morning Miceage put out an update that said Eisner would be at Disneyland on Saturday to see the show. Then on Friday Eisner himself said on national television that he would be there.

It was no "surprise" to anyone who follows those types of things.

It's hard to tell from the article who thought it was a "surprise." The author of the article chose the word, but it's possible that it was a line fed by Disney publicity. I'm guessing he wasn't listed on the media materials as doing the introduction and therefore his appearence was a "surprise" despite the fact that he didn't seem to be hiding it. Much ado about nothing.

The surprise was that he walked the carpet and allowed us to interview him - briefly. We were told that he wouldn't be walking the carpet, and would just show up for the Welcome Moment. And then, there he was.

It was all worth it just to hear Doug Marsh use the phrase: "money shot". It was also nice to recall what Alex Stroup looked like (eventually, sorry mate).

Love how they shut down the DLRR for two hours for this.
