The riddle for October 9 is:
Once upon a midnight cleary,
while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious question
of this Mansion's lore
While I nodded, nearly napping,
suddenly a weird kidnapping
Now I only hear a snapping,
snapping where they sat before
"Tis some visitor," I muttered,
"Snapping that I can't ignore
Only this and nothing more."
Ah, distinctly I remember
it was in the bleak December
And each separate dying ember
wrought its ghost upon the floor
Eagerly I wished my brothers -
were still here and not the others
And I scarcely more than muttered,
"There were five of us before!"
Find me perched, I still am perching,
but where am I, I implore?
Merely this and nothing more.
