I was pretty excited when they first announced that Village Haus would be transformed into the Red Rose Taverne, themed to Beauty and the Beast. I'm even more excited now that the menu has been announced! (https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2017/02/beauty-and-the-beast-inspired-red-rose-taverne-opens-february-24-at-disneyland-park/)

The menu looks great. However, the article does say this is a limited time event. ::(

I typically take those with a wink.... how long did the 50th anniversary fireworks last?

What's with 2 poutine dishes? Beast and Belle were French, not French-Canadian.

There are two burgers and three flatbreads on the menu as well. Pretty sure those aren't French.

Yeah, that sounds good to me too.

Absolutely. But, alas, Americans require a burger option at all costs. Some families would not get to try this new offering if there wasn't a burger for Jr. or mom/dad to have while the others partake of the new food.

My point was about the "something new and different" Yes, poutine meets that definition, but um, in what realm does it fit the theming?

Ummm, well, in the same realm where burgers, chicken sandwich, chopped salad and flatbread fit the theming? Or don't, as the case may be.

They're taking the opportunity to do a co-promotion with a newly-hot established property, and in the process, they're having new menu items. There's nothing on the menu that screams FRENCH to me (and simply calling the chicken sandwich "a la Lumiere" doesn't make it any more French), so really, nothing on the menu is properly themed, nor is any of it new and different compared to menus elsewhere on property, other than the poutine. But hey, there are a few things I want to try, so I don't care, and I want to see what they did with the interior and exterior decorations.

I'm with you on this. Honestly I didn't see anything I would touch. Picky eater here. Nothing appealed to me. Even the desserts were eh. Both would have been great until they threw in a flavor to each one that I don't like. So that was a bit of a bummer. Yet I know many will enjoy the offerings and trying them all out. Hopefully those that do will enjoy. It will be interesting to see what they did with the place to theme it for this. Plus see Gaston wondering around.

I happened upon a soft opening tonight. Here's a picture of the Enchanted Cauli-flower Sandwich. I really liked it and am glad to have such a unique vegetarian item, even if it is for a limited time. I wish they had tried something other than a chopped salad. I would try the poutine and the poutine flatbread, but I don't eat beef or pork, so I'll have to make my own, I guess.

Really? Even the cheeseburger or chopped salad or mozzarella flatbread?

Most of the stuff I am willing to try. Burgers and chicken sandwiches are everywhere, so nothing new there. I am interested in the Poutine fry thingie. Grey stuff I will try, but not sure I will love it.

Yep even those. I am not a fan of the burgers in theme parks at all. They just like those frozen ones you can buy pre-made at the grocery store and for me its just not a taste I like. The salad has stuff I can't get past. I am not a fan of eggs and the apple vinaigrette doesn't appeal to me. Get rid of those things plus the apples in it then I could eat it. The mozzarella flatbread couldn't do it unless it had no tomato chunks on it. Like I said I am a picky eater. I can do tomato sauce but it has to have no chunks of anything and I can do ketchup but that is it with tomatoes. The Grey Stuff Gateau would sound great if it was minus raspberries. I don't care for the taste or flavor of raspberries. If the Lemon Rose Cake doesn't have strawberry pieces in it I could probably do that if its just the flavoring. I would be able to eat the Pulled Pork Flatbread if it had no pickled onions and cilantro (I'm one of those that it takes like soap). LOL Sorry for the long list of it all. So I guess if I could adjust those things in an order there would be a few things. LOL

I couldn't believe how many negative comments I've heard about just the idea of poutine IRL and online. I wish they had a chicken or veggie version I could try. I told my sister tonight that they had poutine, and she cut me off before I could add "and poutine flatbread." Finally the reaction I've been expecting!

They are at least trying something with the chicken sandwich with apple slaw, peppers and bacon jam. But the tomato flatbread is less interesting than the ones they normally have there. And while I find the apple salad that's usually there a little sweet, I'm not overly excited about what's basically a standard chef's salad. I'd probably order it on another menu, but I'm not going to a special pop-up for it.

But, I'm still excited that they tried another pop-up offering after Galactic Grill. I like the idea of a full overlay instead of just a few menu items, which, this basically could have been. I hope they do more lots of theming inside the restaurants and a few great signature items.

I guess it was posted that Grey Stuff completely sold out yesterday (thursday) in a soft opening. So if you really want it - you should get there and order it.

Mr. Tea was so excited about having poutine at DL! I know where we'll be eating tomorrow. :)

Looks yummy. I don't have a Disney trip planned til end of July so I hope this will still be the red rose then. The cauliflower sandwich looks good. I've had the grey stuff in WDW and I did really like it.

Poutine is like basically french fries with gravy and cheese curds I think read? Never actually tried the stuff, but always never sounded that bad to me. Better than ruining fries with ketchup (yes I went there, come at me bros).

I tried five items. I enjoyed everything. I found the slow-cooked beef to have a surprisingly delicious gravy. I'm not a red velvet fan either, so it was a nice surprise that the white chocolate mousse and raspberry filling were the stronger flavors.

I had the cauliflower steak sandwich and I really enjoyed it. The cauliflower has been seasoned enough to take away that typical strong flavor and the sauce on the bun was good. The ciabatta bun is soft.

Slow-Cooked Beef Poutine

Thanks for the pictures!

One question about the poutine - did you think there was a good percentage of beef to waffle fries? The picture makes it look like there's very little beef. Or maybe that's how poutine is supposed to work. I have no idea. Thanks.
