We had purchased Premium AP vouchers in October 2015 when they discontinued that level of pass. We found out about the change on Sunday 10-4-2015 and I rushed to our local Disney Store and bought 2 for $779 each before they pulled them. I think I remember a few others here did this as well. The passes needed to be activated by 12-31-2016. We arrived on 12-13 PM and went to a ticket booth with the vouchers and our previous premium AP's that expired 12-2015. We now have Signature Plus passes that expire 1-12-2018, as we were give the extra month because to the 13 for 12 promo as well. They used our old cards as they were the newer ones with no picture or pass level listed on them.

Congrats on the savings! It is really cool that you will get two Christmas blackouts from this pass!

I will warn you though, if you are anything like me, it will HURT when those passes expire and you look to see what it will cost to renew at the same level. We bought a Premier pass voucher in early 2014 that had to be activated by 1/31/15 for only $849.00. As you know, there have been about a gazillion price increases since then (those passes now cost $1,439 each). I think the sticker shock of how expensive Disney is now was one factor in our family's decision to not renew our passes when those expired last year.

Where did you get the Premier voucher? I thought those could only be purchased at the ticket booth.

We've been buying AP's every other year for quite some time now. We activate the passes mid December and go 2-3 more times during the year, then do a December trip that finishes when the passes expire. We then go cold turkey until the next December. We get 2 December trips out of the passes this way. I know what you mean though-When we first started doing this I think we paid $149 for deluxe passes!:geek:

Congratulations on your great planning!
We were also one of the lucky ones who bought the passes before they were removed from our local Disney Store, YAY! Our passes have now expired and we will be paying the $$$$ for our new passes, Boo! Timing of buying passes seems to have become a casino game lately.
Enjoy your vacations :)

You're correct, and they normally refuse to sell vouchers for them. They did a DVC promotion in 2014 that allowed vouchers to be sold, but they still had to be bought from the box-office if I recall. At least, I know that we made at trip to DL to buy the vouchers.

Yeah, I was a passholder from 1994 to 2015. When we started, I think we paid around $100 per year. When we had the Premier passes, we did two trips to WDW that same way - once in Jan and once in Dec. My general sense is that the every other year annual passholders are a bit more common at WDW. Glad that it works for you here too.
