Disney has released details of the 2016 Military Salute for Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

The new offer is once again based on the 2017 calendar year, and not the Dsney fiscal year. According to the folks over at Military Disney Tips, Disney made the change to calendar-year operation in 2016 so that military personnel would have time to receive their tickets in time to make Fastpass+ reservations at Walt Disney World when the 60-day window opens. Prior to the change, military personnel couldn't get their tickets in time to make advance FP+ reservations, limiting them to same-day reservations. There was no similar issue at Disneyland, but the offers are tied together and so the Disneyland dates moved too.

To help our readers plan their trips, we've divided the information nto the respective resorts, and added our own tips and comments to help you plan your trip.

Disneyland Resort

Ticket discounts

From November 1, 2016 through December 16, 2017, active and retired U.S. military personnel (including active and retired members of the United States Coast Guard, National Guard and Reservists) or their spouses can purchase:

Disney Military Promotional 3-Day Park Hopper Tickets for $156 each [an increase of $13 from the 2016 offer.]
Disney Military Promotional 4-Day Park Hopper Tickets for $181 each [a new option for 2017]

Disneyland tickets may be used January 1, 2017, through December 19, 2017, except that the tickets may not be used April 9-23, 2017.

Active and retired U.S. military personnel can purchase Disney Military Promotional Tickets for themselves and up to five additional family members or friends. No more than six Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased by any eligible member of the U.S. military (or spouse) pursuant to this offer. All tickets and options are non-transferable and must be used by December 19, 2017.

Hotel discounts

The new offer is valid most nights from January 1 through December 19, 2017. Like the ticket offer, the hotel discounts are not valid April 9-23, 2017

Disney does not publish the actual discounted rates, and instead asks eligible U.S. military personnel to call 714-520-7088 to check pricing, availability and to make reservations. In past years, the offer was generally 30-40% off, based on room category.

Unlike the Walt Disney World version, the Disneyland offer allows the eligible service member to book up to two rooms, and allows their spouse (with valid and proper ID) to qualify in the absence of the service member.

Here are some other details you should know about regarding the offers, and that apply at both resorts:

The 3 day costs more than the 4 day?
This was my question as well. The 4 day is $13 cheaper than the 3 day?

What's nice is they brought back the 4 day as an option.

Do you know if the military ID person needs to be with everyone after the first use? If we wanted to have a long breakfast, would everyone else need to wait for us?

And can a military park hopper be used towards an AP, as if it was a regular park hopper?

Thanks

Once it's assigned to a person at the ticket booth you should be good to split up.

The military member (or spouse) only needs to be there for first entry as stated on the back of the ticket.
