We got in! It was total luck; we hadn't heard about it beforehand and saw the sign when we entered DCA. I don't think it was announced ahead of time (my guess is that WAY too many people would turn up if they did announce it -- they filled the theater without any advertising ahead of time).

It was a lot of fun, and the movie was really cute (I cried a few times). Bryce Dallas Howard made an appearance before the movie started and took photos with the audience behind her, and then she spoke a bit about making the movie, love of Disney, etc. There was trivia with fun prizes, and everyone was given a Pete's Dragon activity book and lunch tote on the way out.

This was a favorite movie of mine when I was a kid. I am glad you liked the new one. I'm thinking of taking the kids to see it since it was a favorite of mine. I'm sure it's a well done remake even if the story is a bit different.

I saw it too. Like almost every other Disney opportunity like this, it's a matter of being at the right place at the right time, whether it's seeing that post from Disney Parks Blog saying click the link to register or the sign at DCA the morning of the event. In this case, I happened to be at DCA when it opened and saw the signs advertising the AP exclusive screening for that evening.

I loved the movie! Wasn't a big fan of the original, I'd only first seen in this past year.

Here're pix from being in line before the screening, the swag everyone received, and the lapel pin I picked up this morning at the parks. They took our phones before we entered the theatre, so I couldn't take any photos of Bryce Dallas Howard who popped in just before the screening began to say a few words to us. But I'm sure Disney Parks Blog will be posting pictures from the screening within the week.

Years and years ago when we first got our Disney Visa card Disney would do early screenings of movies.

I have not seen one offered for years but thought it was really cool when we went to a couple of them.

We don't use the card for much and find that our other card really racks up much more useable and worthwhile points
