I just ran a search for Club 33 on ebay hoping to turn up some pens or shirts ect. However, I found that someone is actually auctioning off a dinner in Club 33. Check it out here. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2210638768&category=138#ebayphotohosting) I found this particular listing very interesting, although a bit steep. Though you guys might like to check it out.

$5,000 Buy is now Price? I think you can get a membership for about that much!

I heard that the join up fee's were around that plus the 1000+ yearly dues and the years long waiting list.

You can read all about the various pricing tiers in my article (http://www.mouseplanet.com/more/mm011127.htm), but basically, the lowest-priced membership is the gold level, the initial fee is $7500 (nonrefundable), and the annual dues are $2825.

Oh. Well, it's still (IMHO) way overpriced.

But the actual auction is not that bad. Think about it. For 500 dollars (starting price), you get:

Admission to DL and DCA ($100)
VIP Basket ($25)
VIP Tour($175)
Dinner ($50)
Fantasmic Dessert Buffet ($150)
Certificate ($10)

Total: $510

So it's kinda almost a deal. Plus it benfits Charity!

The Starting Price may be $500, but the Reserve Price is Much Much Higher. I'm guessing at least $4,000, given the Buy It Now price of $5,000. That's a bit much, although there is a lot included in this package. I'd rather pay a couple thousand more and wait on the list to be a member for a full year, than get just 1 day for more than half that amount.

This is the same person that was selling dinners and lunches to help with an unnamed "charity."

Here (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20552&highlight=ebay) is the thread from September. Same person.

Everyone remember: Disney is on it. They know about this person and this auction in particular, and are planning action. It's best if none of us takes action in the meantime.

Pity, I was going to offer to team up with someone for a pair of the tickets.... Ah well guess I'll just have to keep watching my mail for that personal invite from Mr. Eisner. I'm sure it will be here any day now.

Can someone please explain what it is about Club 33 that makes those kind of membership costs worth it?

Buy It Now? $5000??!!

That's an even worse investment than the used AP.

Actually that person has another C33 dinner up for auction: Here, there, everywhere. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=138&item=2210729207)

And has bought/sold many C33 items in the past.

Thanks-
Read them all. I have to say it looks like fun, but is nothing I would aspire to have. In fact I think the prices are decadent and outrageous.

Would be enjoyable no doubt, but not having it does not detract from my DL fun.:D

Just curious...

Would A "VIP Tour" Include:

A "go to the head of the line" type of deal??

A game of basketball on the Matterhorn court?

Free go's at the shooting gallery?

A chance to drive the train?

A dance with Snow White?

That would make it worth it for me :D

Actually....$400 is not all that bad a price, considering you get into Club 33 and the Fantasmic balcony.

Price for Two 1-Day Hoppers - $120
Price for Fantasmic Balcony(2) - $90
Price for Club 33 Meals(2) - $100

Total = $310...with Club 33 Meals not available to everyday guests.

Small point/question really:

I haven't been to C33 in a couple fo years, and even then it was for brunch. But I would think that dinner for two including drinks, tax tip, etc. Would end up being more like $150+. Anybody been recently and can update?

Which actually brings up another (rhetorical) question: On these C33 "deals", would one still need to pay for their own meal? From my recollection, we had to pay the bill at the end of the meal. Would these auctions just be for the priviledge of a meal at C33?

In the description doesn't it say that this auction's proceeds go to a charity? Then it should be fine to have this auction on Ebay, correct?

I'd pay $400 to get admission and eat at Club 33. But $5000, uh....no.

Oops, sorry. Here's the link, fixed:

Link to my Club 33 article (http://www.mouseplanet.com/more/mm011127.htm).

shawnarae -- Charity is the only way Disney allows it, but the seller will have to have cleared it with Disney first.

From the article:

>>Stewart Jones is a familiar face to the regular visitors at
>>MousePlanet's MousePad discussion board, posting >>as "Steamboat Stu."

Steamboat Stu????

I don't recall ever seeing that name here. It also does not show up in the member list. Is that an alias for an alias?? Or am I just missing something?

I don't know why he doesn't show up on the members list but here's steamboatStu's (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/member.php?action=getinfo&userid=725) member profile.

Hummm, I hope that's not because he was trying to keep a low profile so everyone would stop hitting him up for invites....
