Hi all! I'm heading to the parks this coming week, 29th-3rd (yay!). I'm confused as to the status of Soarin'. It isn't classified as "closed" but I haven't heard any chatter about the new film or old film being shown. I expected some feedback or mouse chatter by now if the new film was showing. All I can find is that there are tests of the new film but nothing that tells me for sure. You guys are better than any official word ;D so I knew this was the place to go.

The park update still listed M-Th as closed for programming, with F-Sunday open with the old film. I *think that info was good through tomorrow's date, with no announcement of an opening date yet.

Shanghai gets to debut the new ride first as part of the contract. Supposedly the new film will begin to show in US parks the following day.

We will be there June 5-10 and I'm preparing myself that Soarin will be fully closed as part of the final transition. Maybe I'll be wrong and be happy! It was closed on our last family visit too.

Okay, so it's a true wildcard what may be. I sure do appreciate all the input! Thank you so much!

It's the old film still. The closures have been related to programming of the new movie, which has not yet debuted.

Ah, that makes sense. Thank you, that's a great clarification

I just checked the daily refurbishment schedule at Disneyland.com and Soarin' is only listed as closed on Monday, February 29th and Tuesday, March 1st. After that, only Grizzly River Run is listed as closed for refurbishment. When I went into the following week it was not listed at all, weekdays included. This makes me hopeful that it will be up and running full swing in April - and I don't really care which film is playing, because I love the original so much.

We rode it today (Tuesday, March 1st) so the refurb schedule is tricky to trust.

I sure hope this is accurate! We will be there June 18-22. :p

So it looks like we will get the new Soarin movie on June 17 since it opens in Shanghai on June 16. That of course will be our last day in the parks, so I guess we should plan for a long morning in line! Can't imagine soft openings just because they want to give Shanghai the premier of the movie, but I guess we could always get lucky. Haven't seen a whole lot of other info about this yet though, is it actually confirmed that it will open in DCA on the 17th?

Thanks. I was hoping that the change over wouldn't take long, since they had already been programming.

I am BUMPing this thread . . .
. . . because my last non-blocked day is Thursday June 9.
And if there is any kind of soft opening for AP holders for Soarin' Over [anywhere], I want in on it!

I went on last Sunday, (5th) and it looks like a lot of the changes are in place already. The signage is all Soarin' now with a new logo, Soatin' Over California is not on anything. They even had the smells turned off.

Pretty sure the smells have been off since they started testing the new ride film a while back. They were. I figured it was the testing, buut Heimlich's smells were off in December and March as well. I am hoping it was a coincidence.

I wonder if all the aviation pioneer pictures will go away? That will probably make me sadder than losing "over California" :(

I just tweeted back and forth with @OCDisney from The OC Register. No changes to the queue and Patrick Warburton is still doing the spiel. The locations rushing across the clouds are obviously different.
