My wife and I spent our 20 year anniversary at the DLR from 10-14 to 10-18. During our stay we were disappointed with the many times that rides were down for a good part of the day coupled with the several rides that just weren't going to open because of whatever reasons (other than scheduled rehabs). I attempted to speak with a CM at City Hall, but she only said she would relay the information to the proper people (read...blow off).

What I would like to know is if there is someone I could send a letter or e-mail to that might be a bit more understanding. I would appreciate any information on addresses that you could provide. Thanks...

Wow, it sounds as though I was VERY lucky to have gone to Disneyland when I did... efoxx, when in June did you go? That's the earliest date yet that I've heard of major problems at the park.

I went in mid-May, about the 19th. I have to say I've never had a greater vacation, and had absolutely zero problems. Every ride we wanted to go on was open and every castmember was attentive and fun. We were hoping to make it a yearly thing, maybe go again in Febuary or something. But it sounds as though my family and I were one of the last to have a fully-functioning, true Disneyland experience. I don't want to ruin it with a mediocre second trip :(

Walt's Buddy,
See this thread:

It looks like we were down there about the same time, wasn't it terrible? Let me know if you have any better luck than I did! Also, does anyone know how you go about getting a letter to Dewitt "T" Irby? The lady at guests communications says they forward all letters to him but I seriously doubt that. If anyone knows a better address or a different department to address it to please let me know.

The Walt Disney Company
500 S. Buena Vista Street
Burbank, CA 91521

here's one that i found from another Mouseplaneter.
I was there the same time period but what angered me was a few rude CM's.

Who cares if nothings gets done, I just want to VENT...i'll send a letter to both addresses...

I can truly understand your frustration with the amount of time and number of attractions that have been down over the last few years. I noticed several rides that were down time that I was there with my wife and a friend. That was last year in September. The question that I have for you is... You felt that you had been "blown off". I understand that... but what did you expect that CM to do for you right at that moment? What COULD that CM do for you at that moment? She probably gave the only answer she could.

I don't mean to sound harsh or confrontational, but I have always tried to put myself in the CM's shoes when telling them about my concerns. My thought is that you were probably the 1,999 person to come to her to talk about the same thing and tell her about something that she had already heard 1,999 times.

Please, before saying that a CM is blowing you off, think about just what thier situation is and what they can or can't do to fix the problem.

Thanks,
Charles
(Not a CM. Just a fan of DL.)

I would call guest relations at 714-781-7290. I had a major disappointment in January of 2000 during my honeymoon and this was the only way I received any help. I would insist that you receive compensation for the lack of attractions operating during your visit. Tell them that full price ticket costs deserve full park services.

Well said. Remember, the rides weren't down JUST to annoy you! Yah-it sucks, yah-we all wish all the attractions were up all the time, but really, what is that CM gonna do? Should he/she bust out a wrench and go grind on some gears? Perhaps you were trying to get some free stuff out of her?? Charles makes a great point in that the CM probably heard your complaint ALL day from thousands of people. Try and remember, the CMs don't like the attractions being down any more then you do. When things are down, gripes are up, and no one wants that.

Good times!

How about Matt Ouimet's address? He's in charge, and seems to be looking for "bad show."
Or maybe someone can educated-guess his e-mail address?

I wouldn't educated-guess his e-mail address. It can be changed in a matter of minutes.

Send copies of the letter to 1313 Harbor, 500 S. Buena Vista, and P.O. Box 10,000 and you oughta get some response.

I appreciate all of the helpful information on the addresses.

Regardless of wheter or not I was the first or the one-thousanth person to visit Guest Relations that day it shouldn't really matter.
Try to remember that this is what they're there for. G-U-E-S-T Realations. If the CM is assigned to Guest Relations then they should have the proper attitude. I know the difference between a sincere symphathetic ear and a blow-off. Thanks for your input.

I was there last year between Christmas and New Years, one of Disneyland's busiest times. There was a group of 14 of us, all meeting from different parts of the US. Well needless to say it was really crowded, almost scary in some areas of the park. Most of the family left by noon the first day we were there and never returned. My daughter and I toughed it out for longer. Upon leaving we went to City Hall. Inside was a mob of people yelling at the CM's. They ( the CM's ) were giving the people a refund and having another CM escort the people out the gate. With no stamp to return I guess. I saw this and decided to go the other route, when it came my turn and said to the CM, boy you are earning your money today huh? She could not have been nicer to us. I explained I did not want my money back since I would be there for a few more days but? She immediately gave us many, many passes to get to the front of the line on any ride, free dinner vouchers, and took my information. When I got home someone from Disney called me and sent us comp tickets for the entire group. It was awesome. Sometimes you need to have a sense of humor, and most times it works way better than yelling. ( and i am not saying the origanal poster did at all, i am talking about the people i saw )
Anyway, my daughter, my mother and myself went a month later and had the best time, with the comped tickets. We were also staying at the Disneyland Hotel and when I checked in I mentioned that I had been here a month ago and boy it was crowded and they upgraded our room. So, basically what I am saying is two things, when you have a right to complain, by all means, do so, just do so in the right manner. Second, Disneyland is crowded at many times of the year, expect it and go forthright knowing. Having said that, I am going again this next month in December, but I planned the trip so I am there during weekdays too, to balance out the crowded weekends that I know will be crazy. ( This is btw before the two week holiday from school ) (sneaking my daughter out of school for a few days)
Anyway, just adding my experience to the talk!
