From the 9/3 Disneyland Resort Update, with additional information:

After making his theme park debut in Tokyo earlier this year, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit joins Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Chip & Dale on Buena Vista Street starting September 14, according to the Disney Parks Blog (http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2014/09/oswald-the-lucky-rabbit-is-on-his-way-to-disney-california-adventure-park/). Disneyland annual passholders got a sneak peek at the new character Tuesday night during the "Fall Back to Fun" passholder event at Disney California Adventure.

While Disney is publicizing the debut of Oswald, the company has made no mention about the sudden disappearance of Duffy the Disney Bear from his Disney California Adventure meet-and-greet area. We don't know if Duffy is on vacation, or gone for good.

Update:

Oswald is currently scheduled to appear between park opening and 7:00 p.m. daily. His "territory" is between the main entrance gates and the Hyperion Bridge, so don't expect to see him rubbing elbows with Mickey outside Elias and Co.

A note sent to cast members says that "Oswald’s exact location and appearance schedule may be adjusted based on Guest flow and other factors during the first days or weeks."

I never liked Duffy. Seemed too much like an invented character just for merch sales, not an animated character that they then develop merch for.

I always found Duffy to be a bit creepy.

I love Oswald!

So I guess Duffy's girlfriend isn't gonna make her appearance here after all, even though they've been talking about it for some time now.

Looking forward to seeing Oswald in person.

I'm happy to let Duffy stay a Japanese "thing".

My youngest daughter loves Duffy. When we went to DL 4 years ago, my MIL bought her a small Duffy with magnet hands, which is on hanging on her light. Then when we went to WDW, she was excited to see Duffy and got a Duffy bear that is wearing a Goofy hat. She sleeps with it every night.

I love my Duffy, so cute and fluffy! His girlfriend is being released in Hawaii.

I like Oswald. I hope he comes to WDW too. Otherwise I will have to try to get to CA next summer!

My DS still loves Duffy(but shhh, don't tell anyone, LOL) and will be pretty bummed if he is gone for good. But, on the other hand, he is a huge Oswald fan too and can't wait to meet him. I was trying to keep it a secret but my DS came up behind me while I was on Facebook and it showed up in a post. Opps, LOL.

I'm "meh" about Duffy. Maybe its because we mostly go during the week, but it seemed to me that Duffy was rarely out there at his spot anyway. We have some photos with him, but he is definitely not a favorite. I'm very excited to see Oswald though!
