Wish they had made an official announcement. I really should have bought all my tickets yesterday vs. just an AP.

Check with getawaytoday.com. They appear to have discounted tickets off the old prices.

interesting that the SoCal pass (not the select) is not available for purchase on the website. Another site claimed it was being eliminated but why raise prices or have it showing if its being eliminated? Curious...

You have an extra 0 there in the kids' old price. Otherwise, the new price is a bargain!

that's probably correct. My visits more often than not are short, so I use DTD.

I really really really wish that we'd gotten advance notice of this increase. I had some clients reviewing price quotes for their vacations, and now the ticket prices change everything. Knowing that the tickets were going to go up would have been good motivation to make decisions. Sigh.

I wonder if its because they don't want a run on tickets - and bad press/complaining crowds - even for a day. Hmmm..

That's pretty major. Now - if they continue AP previews and special nights, then when new events or shows/attractions come along it might not be such a big deal. However, I know this also affects folks who may have families coming in who can only go certain days.

Tickets are still available on getawaytoday.com and at Vons at prior prices.

So this is somewhat of an OT question - if an AP holder bought a blockout ticket in the past, could they still use their pass for discounts? or was it because the pass was not scanned it was not valid. I wonder if that's an issue in the future as well. Hmmm

so a sidebar story on the sentiment of price increases. When I renewed my Premium AP this past March, the CM went right away into the spiel about what the first payment was and the monthly payments would be for a renewal. Actually, he first asked me if I still wanted to stay at Premium level and the facial expression was "do you really want this?" So when he paused in his payment breakdown I told him no, I would be paying in full right now. He pulled back and wide-eyed said "Oh, OK then. I guess we'll do that instead"... he acted so surprised, and I chalked it up to most folks opting for monthly payments.

It struck me this morning that the strategy is brilliant because they can raise prices as much as they want and it won't FEEL too much like a big hit because you're paying monthly. so for a few more years (until your monthly payment is 100 - or maybe more?) they'll be able to keep raising prices without too much concern for backlash overall because, hey, it's only a few lattes per day, right?

It's funny because just yesterday I told DH that I wanted to purchase passes before the price went up, which I was guessing would be sometime in the next couple of weeks. I made a late night run to Albertsons last night and spent a few minutes staring at the passes... but want to wait until DH is comfortable spending the money, and it takes him a while to process these things. I am hoping to activate passes by labor day weekend, so he thought he had a little more time to think on it. ;) The increase for most passes isn't that much, so it will sting less if we don't manage to buy before the old stock is gone.

In So Cal most of the grocery stores sell APs and likely will not have increased their pricing yet.

In this OCRegister article (http://www.ocregister.com/articles/annual-614733-disney-passes.html) it says that they suspended So Cal AP sales because the parks were too crowded on Sundays. Funny, because when I had a So Cal AP, I would have rather have gone to the parks on Saturdays in January than the scattered Sundays in May and August. Maybe they should reevaluate which days they block out.

Which grocery stores would have premium AP vouchers for sale? No place online?

interesting that the SoCal pass (not the select) is not available for purchase on the website. Another site claimed it was being eliminated but why raise prices or have it showing if its being eliminated? Curious...

From the Disneyland So-Cal Annual Pass page (https://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/southern-california/) "The SoCal and SoCal Select Annual Passes are available only for Southern California residents living in ZIP codes 90000 to 93599. Pass types are limited in quantity, and may not be available."

I don't know if that language has always been there, but this would suggest that they may now have a cap on how many So Cal passes they are selling . If so, and if they are enforcing it, then the price increase would be for renewals only for now. That could be a transition to eliminating the pass entirely or at least thinning the ranks before they start selling them again. Curious for anyone in the parks today, is that pass on the new pricing signs?

ETA my theory is consistent with what the OC Register is saying, though I'm now curious what sort of limits they envision for the Deluxe and Premium passes.
