Hi there !
This is my first post on this discussion board. I am french and go every week at Disneyland Paris.
At DLP, we have a new show this year named "Mickey's Show Time", played at Vidéopolis in Discoveryland.
I have heard that this show is a musical copy of the one played at Disney's California Adventure a few years ago and named "Steps in Time".
I really loves the music of the show, I have the DLP soundtrack with and without the singers on a CD, but I would like to discover the "Steps in Time Show".
I would like to know if anyone has soundtracks, vidéos, pictures etc... from the Steps in Time show.
I have made a short medley of the songs in french/english, I can send it via Email if you wish. (MP3 format).
Sorry for my english...
Thank you very much in advance !

Welcome, Iliade! :) Your English is fantastic, no need to apologize.
I looked up Mickey's Show Time (here's a link) (http://www.dlpuog.co.uk/parades_show/mickeyshow.htm) and it seems you're right. They kept the good parts of Steps in Time, namely, the different takes on Disney classic songs. They took out the bad parts, which leads me to the following...
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Steps in Time was a failure here at DCA. The reason is that the innovative songs were wrapped around a terribly cheesy plot. If they had just done a musical revue I'm sure it would have been fine, but as it was, it was terrible.
The story was this - Two brothers are taken to Disneyland. The older brother "doesn't believe in the magic" and thinks Disney is dumb. A fairy godmother shows up. She's young and "hip" and has really bad lines that are supposed to be funny. She then takes him on a journey to "rediscover the magic of Disney". Of course after all the recreated classic Disney tunes, the kid is converted and it has a happy ending. Believe me, it was horrible.
I'll spare you the links to threads here about how much we disliked Steps in Time. If you want you can search for them...but it's kind of depressing.
As a result, I do not know if anyone will have a soundtrack or video of it. Sorry to let you down like this! Just be happy you have a good show.
Hope to hear more from you! :)

Actually, that was really the revision of the show (more like Steps in Time v2.0)
The original show didn't have a plotline, and it was much better as its original self rather than when they added the "hip" Fairy Godmother plotline.
Of course, it was very funny to see the kids that played the younger brother backstage with their little egos and stage moms.... Serious issues going on there...

Does anyone know if the CD to Mickey's Show Times is available for purchase? I would love a copy of the show!

CP...You’re kind of close. And to be honest, I think your version would have been a bit better. Steps 2.0 was never set at Disneyland...it started out at home where the two brothers were fighting over the TV. The older brother was really annoyed with his little brother and life in general. The fairy godmother, Vera, shows up and takes the older brother on a journey through "hip and edgy" remakes of classic Disney songs. After six song and dance routines and a lot of poorly scripted storyline the brothers were getting along just in time for the final number.
I totally agree with ChipmunkStar though, Steps 1.0 was much better. It was odd without a storyline but it was good for what it was. I had taped that version on my DCA preview day, but the camcorder ate the tape later in the day ruining the entire thing. A few weeks later the show was closed and changed for the worse, permanently.
I rode the K-lot shuttle a few times with the kids from the show. It was really strange sitting next to a 12 year old on a CM shuttle.

Hi,
Thank you for your answers. A friend of mine has made a website about one of the singer (he has sang for the Hercules' video Go the Distance in French).
You will also find pictures and videos, music on this link:

However, some said the the show was not a success. The guests did not like the show ? The music is great, was it a problem of staging the show ? In france , there is NO setting on stage. just colors and a few draws. 2 screens on the sides show the animated movies in which the songs can be heard.

With a title like "Steps in Time," one might have expected a show about Disney history, or a show based on Mary Poppins.
What we got was something that should have been called "Waste of Time." Horrendously bad arrangements of Disney tunes, tied together with an inane plot involving a rookie fairy godmother and two brothers who can't get along. Fortunately, it was quickly replaced by a "Readers' Digest Condensed" version of "Blast!"

I actually thought the idea of different arrangements to classic tunes was a good one. But what really made the show bad was the plot. The lines the actors had to say were terrible - not funny or interesting at all. And the plot/characters had nothing to do with the music and dancing, so it made no sense.
If I remember correctly, there was very little set decoration for Steps in Time as well.
Polar 33 - oops. :) I only saw the show once, and that was 2.5 years ago, so I knew I'd get at least some of it wrong. I had no idea that the Steps in Time I know was a revision, though! What a shame they changed it.

There was a set. It was faux-futuristic, with TV monitors, some sort of metalic structure, and colored lighting. The ultra-thin plot was not helped by the ultra-mod set.

Camcorder? Bah...I'd rather have that tape back. Most of the stuff shot that day no longer exists.

I have a CD of the music of California Adventure. It includes the theme song for step in time. Actually it includes a couple of songs from rides and shows that never really made it at the park.
