Or at least what appears to be a pretty nice model (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3147108163&category=19122) of it!

Not bad. I have to doubt that a seller with 0 feedback is going to successfully auction a $3,000 item, though.

Was this a project for a 4th grade class?

That would be a fun hobby, maybe worth $100?

Hey, if it could be had for,um, $500 or so, I might bid for something like that.

(I'd pay more if I actually had a place to put it.)

Was this a project for a 4th grade class? Hey, I'll be the first to admit that $3,000 is a little steep, and that some areas look a pretty sparse (Town Square and the Hub are completely WEAK), but geeze, you guys think it's only the quality of a $100 4th grade project?

I thought you would see that this guy has evidently taken a LOT of time to build this, and it's pretty faithful to the prototype, especially in proportion and placement of the buildings, etc. I'm not saying its a definitve peice, but to degrade the guy's work and effort like that shows me that you guys know very little of what it would take to undertake a project like this.

Hey, I think the model is totally awesome. It's just that I really want it and can't afford to pay $3000 for it. I can only afford $500 for a thing that I am only going to set up in my Grand Cal hotel suite on the 50th anniversary and otherwise have no place to put it.

I'm not putting it's value at $500. But then e-bay is not about the actual value of an item, it's about fiercely competitive market value - i.e., what you are willing to pay. I think the model is worth more, but I am willing to pay five hundred dollars.

I wasn't referring to your post, ISM, but to the two posts I quoted, who seemed to think it only worth a C-note, or appearing to be built by an 8 year-old.

:)

That model is so bad it looks like a preschool project if even that. It probably took 15min and 5$ to make it and to charge 3,000 for it is insane. Does anybody have some other links to some good models?

I would send you some pics of my scratchbuilt "O" gauge models of the first three Disneyland Railroad steam locomotives, but I couldn't bear for someone who probably has zero modeling experience to say they look like they were built by a pre-schooler!;)

I didnt mean to be that harsh when I said that I just wanted to express on how insane the price was.

Actually I have alot of experience with models, my dad has been building models his whole life and hes really into trains. He has been working on a lay for a long time now and I have helped him with some of it. Heres a link to some of the construction pictures of it. http://www.ultracyclist.com/layout.htm

It's definitely a nice model, and took more work than some people are giving credit for. Not some kiddie model or anything. However, this guy is on drugs if he thinks it's worth $3,000. I'd like what he's been smokin'.

Nice photos, Freerider. You may not appreciate the work, but I'm sure someone like your dad might appreciate the Disneyland model (although I too think it'll be a cold day in heck before it fetches 3 grand).

I admit my post was pretty mean and I just want to give a apology, I know probably alot of work went into it.

It is a pretty decent model, but $3000 dollars? Oh shine on you crazy diamond.

$3,000 is pretty stiff, but also consider the value of time and passion that the person put into this one-of-a-kind project. Yeah, it's a little weak in some areas, but I'd be freakin' happy if I had that in my house. And let's not forget that five of the rides in the model are actually operational, including the trains and sky ride.

There's no way I could afford $3,000, but that is no indication of the value I place upon this person's hard work and passion.

BTW - if you want to see someone passionate about doing a Disneyland model, check out this guys Disneyland Main Street project he's been building in his back yard!

Wow! That's amazing. I expected a small model but that's really big.

Hmmm. When I was 10, I built a Disneyland from Legos. It had a (finger-powered) working Monorail, working Skyway that actually tunneled through the Matterhorn, working Autopia, and working Mark Twain. I shouldn't have disassembled it, because I bet I could have tried to fetch $3,000 for it as well. ;)

(Oh, and please do not assume that this never occurred, or that I don't have "experience". I can dig up the old photo of it, if anyone would like proof. :p)

I like the guy's model, but I too, can't see where it's worth $3,000, nor took 10 years in the making.

I've always wanted to do a model of DL, and I have to say that I'm very impressed with that DL model (not to mention the main street linked later in this thread!). I wouldn't pay $3000 for it, but it's no 4th grade project. It's more like something you'd expect of someone who's been doing stage design or architectural models for some time.
