Just a question-

How often do you attend Who Wants To Be A Millionaire-Play It!? And, if this applies, how many times have you been in the Hot Seat? I'm trying to figure out if the number of times I have been in is abnormally high or middle of the road or strangely low. I don't want to admit the numbers right away, for fear of influencing responses. And yes, this is how I got my screenname.

Well even though we have 3 kids and one of them has problems sitting, we go once or twice or more every visit. We are ALL obsessed with being in the hot seat and competing with the audience. Thus far, 3 of our family of 5 have gotten up there. Myself, my husband and my 4 year old. My 11 year old is hopeful, I think he would do really well if he ever makes it. I guess the busy one who can't sit still (3 yrs old) will want to one day also.

I really love that show and I would go multiple times a day if I could it's always fun.:~D

Morrigoon can tell you, I'm Millionaire obsessed. While I know everything about how the Play It! version software works, and all the coll techinical details of the game, I actually suck at the game itself. :D

I definitely have the millionaire bug! If it's playing when I'm at the resort, I see it. I'll play it multiple times a day. Since the last show is at 5:00 on weekdays (and weekends now), I 've even gotten to work at 6:30 a.m. so I can leave early enough to catch it. But I don't do that too often. I'm planning my wedding right now, so I'm super busy with appointments with florists, Djs, etc, so I haven't been in awhile. I need to go back soon, I'm itching to play! I don't like to play by myself, so I have to wait also until my sister is available to come with me. I don't want to get into the hotseat, and say no one is with me!

Amazingly with all the times I've played, I've only been in the hotseat once! I almost always know the answers, but I'm just not fast enough. The one time I've been in the hotseat was when they got up fairly high. I missed the $125K question, but I know I can do better than that.

I've been in the Hot Seat six times.

Fourth time, I won the million after an abysmal record of not even getting a shirt...

Hang in there.

I have only played WWTBAMPI! once. I plan to do it again next time I go to DCA. I've gotten a million about 5 times in the game....but I dunno about doing it at a theme park :geek:

Just curious-for those that have won-what are the prizes?

I go to Millionaire once or twice every visit, which has been 1/2 times a month since I got my AP in February. I've NEVER been in the hotseat, but have been close a couple of times. Grrr...

Everybody gets an I WAS IN THE HOT SEAT pinback button.
You get a cloissonné pin for each question you get credit for at the end of your play.
There's a 1000-point baseball cap. Hit 1000 points and you are guaranteed to keep the first five pins.
There's a 32000-point polo shirt. Hit 32000 points and you are guaranteed to keep the first ten pins, the hat and the shirt.
Million point winners get all 15 pins, including a numbered million-point cloissonné pin, a solid-metal gold-colored medallion that is heavy enough to be used as a weapon, an embriodered leather jacket, and a trip for four on a Disney cruise ship to the Bahamas.

I didn't want to admit to how many times I had been in the Hot Seat because I was eligible and the total was tentative. I got in the Hot Seat today, Sunday, September 21, at the two o'clock show. I managed to get a tailor-made stack of questions, managing to get to the 125,000 points with two lifelines (50:50, phone-a-stranger). I took the fifty-fifty, not knowing what a martinet was. It left me with disciplinarian and music maker. I took a chance on music maker, and lost. For the third time at 125,000. It gets really annoying after a while. But it was amazing the response I got after missing. The studio audience went "freestyle bonkers." I'm not sure if they didn't like me and were glad I was out of the Hot Seat so they could have a chance, or were amazed that I did that well at the ripe old age of thirteen. After hearing Elise talking as I sat waiting to be escorted out, I gathered it was the latter reason. And that is the story of my eighth visit to the Hot Seat.

So what's the secret?

Here's how the game works. Everybody plays the Fastest Finger, and fastest person gets in, like the TV show used to be. But then, during the play-along game, the game changes. You are given a point score, based on how quickly you get in and the amount of points in the question. They give you 1,000 points per unused second, and they calculate it to the thousandth of a second, and they give you the amount of points in the question. So, if you took .192 seconds to answer the 100 point question, you would recieve 100+14,808=14,908 points for the 100 point question. Near the beginning (100-32,000) it's more important to get in quickly, but in the last few questions (64,000-1,000,000), the point value is more than the time bonus. It's 500,000 guaranteed versus a tentative 45,000. I'd tell you to use my strategy, but mine is sitting next to my dad and cheating. It's not so bad when you get up there and get to 125,000. The lights get really dark. And it's really cold. It's strange, it's like ten degrees colder in the center of the stage than in the middle. I hope that helps.

Apparently, the record for most times in the DCA Hot Seat is twenty-four. Which means that they've been in every month except one since the beginning, a mere twenty-five months ago. This is an astounding feat, since there is a thirty-day ineligibility period following each visit. And I thought eight was a huge number of visits. :crying:

Take a look at the responses from people who have tried to get in the Hot Seat. (As opposed to people who don't play, just watch.) Zero. One. Two. Low numbers. Eight is an incredibly high number.

Maybe not a record, but certainly impressive.

Cryan71, you really should go. It's a lot of fun. You'll find yourself going multiple times. Just one word of advice. Excersize restraint. Don't spend all of your time there. There are many other things to do in the park. And if you make the Hot Seat, don't go during your thirty-day ineligibility period. It just looks weird.
