Some interesting posts from the Facebook wall of composer Eric Whitacre:

American singers 18 and over: Disney has commissioned me to write a new piece for them called "Glow" which will be used as part of their World of Color show this holiday season. Best of all, they want the choir to be made up of auditioned singers in our 'virtual style' so that the final performance will be projected onto water, part of the dazzling light show at Disney's California Adventure park in Anaheim. Just go to worldofcolorhonorchoir.com (http://worldofcolorhonorchoir.com/) for all the audition materials. Woo hoo!

That website has more information about the virtual choir process:

Here’s how it works: Sign Up (http://worldofcolorhonorchoir.com/signup) on this website, learn your part (http://worldofcolorhonorchoir.com/learn), record your audition video and submit it. We will select around 500 submissions and join them together to form an Honor Choir for World of Color – Winter Dreams, a new nighttime water spectacular at Disney California AdventureŽ for the holiday season!

Whitacre also posted a link to a snippet of Glow. You can hear it at this link:

If you apply, PLEASE share your videos so we can see them!

How cool! I forwarded this to a couple of singer friends :-) Thanks, AVP!I just downloaded the Alto part. I can't deal with recording anything until after MouseAdventure, but I'm doing to start learning the part. It's been years since I've sung anywhere but in my shower or car; this would be AMAZING to be selected.

I have signed up and now just trying to decide if I feel soprano-ish or alto-ish. Normally I sing soprano, but the alto is pretty. Looks like I'll need to go buy some black fabric.

So excited to participate. Whitacre is one of my family's favorite composers (we've all been singers), and we've also all been wanting to participate in one of his online vocal choirs. This will be the perfect mix of Disney and beautiful choral music. We've already started practicing!

When I saw this on FB, I was soooo excited -- the Tinkerteen and her fellow choir students are huge fans of Eric Whitacre. Some of them participated in the amazing Virtual Choir project he recently completed. Unfortunately, you have to be 18 to do this WOC project, which eliminates most of them. And some of them are SO close to their 18th birthdays. Bummer! (But looking forward to seeing it!)

Got mine submitted finally. I kept having technical difficulties. Anyone else finish their audition recordings?
