While this sounds like an interesting event, I was most surprised to read about the ability to PURCHASE a night in the Pirates suite for 5 grand! Has this suite ever been available for purchase like this before?

I think that suite is always available for purchase, subject to availability. If I recall there are two or three overly themed suites like that. While I don't have $5k in my slush Disney fund, if I did I would certainly appreciate booking it when most of the cost was tax-deductible.

And I should correct my original email. Disney didn't post the registration for the event, Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) did.

currence, the suite I'm talking about is the one above Pirates in the park. I thought it was only for special circumstances or Disney big wigs. I didn't think it was available for purchase.

Dan, the suite above Pirates inside the park is the "Dream Suite," which as far as I know is not available for purchase -- celebs and "special people" only.

The Pirates suite is one of the themed suites in the Disneyland Hotel:

I called once for funsies, and was told $3,500 per night for the themed hotel suites.

The package says " This package includes, overnight accommodations for you and three in the DisneylandŽ Hotel Pirates of the Caribbean Suite (Date to be mutually agreed upon), four DisneylandŽ Resort Park Hopper Tickets and a DisneylandŽ Resort Tour Guide to help you plan your magical day."

It is a gorgeous suite, but not worth the $3-4K (depending on season) for a 4 person suite...

Ahh - there's the clarification that had me confused. Thanks for the info!

I was told it would accommodate 6 people -- totally makes it worth it, right?? NOT :-)

We are doing the fireworks package with some friends. When I forwarded the information to my husband he said we could do the basic package, the fireworks package, or "the last one." I was pretty sure he didn't actually mean it :) I read the description to the friends who are coming with us and one of them was on board until she realized that her share would be $1,250. Then she claimed I should have told her the price before I read the description so that she could have stopped listening.

Is anyone else planning on going?I wrote about this a few weeks ago (http://www.mouseplanet.com/10416/Disneyland_Resort_Update#news4) in the Update, but repeated it again this week for good measure. Tony and I have gone to all of them, and we're going again this year. It's a fun event, especially if you drink wine (which we don't, but they're getting better about having NA options). One year we got to sample the new House of Blues menu before it officially debuted, and two years ago had absolutely stunning lamb lollipops at the Jazz Kitchen.

Here's my review of 2011 (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/entry.php?745-3rd-annual-Taste-of-Downtown-Disney-benefitting-CHOC-Children-s-a-recap)

AVP - it was your reviews which prompted us to register this year!

Any other padders plan to be there?

From what I have been told, the Adventureland Suite sleeps 6, Big Thunder Suite and Mickey's Penthouse sleep 5, POTC Suite sleeps 4 and Fairytale Suite is 2.

The POTC suite has a king in the master bedroom and 2 twins in the second bedroom. The couch does not make into a bed. MDM and I toured it back in April and was very surprised it only slept 4.

Thanks, Malcon - I must have mixed them up. I was still reeling from the price, so I'll use that as my excuse :-)
