Has anyone heard anything about Disney bringing back the electrical parade??

Nope. no rumors, no accurate official announcements. Lots of speculation from bloggers and fans - but not based on anything else.

Hmmmm... Ok, I was just wondering because I heard it from a CM that there was a possibility that the Electrical Parade might be making it's way back to Disneyland this summer. Wishing thinking I guess...

I've heard the same, as part of the Limited Time Magic. Heard they are in limbo because of crowd control concerns.

Supposedly SpectroMagic is going to be back at WDW this year, and they're likely to play that up in advertising/announcements, so I'd watch for that date and then have a clue when it COULD be back.

I had heard that Spectro was supposed to come back to WDW, but that would be a huge cost to bring MSEP back west just for a LTM.

From a CM at WDW. There will be no more electrical parade at wdw after this year. And the idea is to bring it back to DL Main Street in 2014 or possibly 2015 for the 60th year anniversary. So if it does come back it won't be for awhile. But I have heard things from CMs before that never came true.

I really wish it would come back this year. That would be such an awesome magical surprise.

I read somewhere (maybe Al Lutz) that the traditional Main Street Electrical Parade would not be returning. Instead Disney would be creating a whole new nightly parade for the 60th anniversary and beyond. I also read that the plan is to build a back "alley" behind the shops for walking because Main Street is too crowded during parades for people to watch and walk through. Anyone else read this? Was that Al's speculation? Or did I see it somewhere else?

Nearly every Summer there's a big draw whether opening of Finding Nemo Subs, Toy Story Midway Mania, World of Color, Star Tours 2 & Ariel's, and most recently Cars Land.
But what about 2013?
Appears there is a void unless they plan to parlay another Summer with Cars Land as the headliner. Fantasy Faire won't (and shouldn't) get billing like these others; but MSEP just might be marketable enough to.

There is already a small backstage walkway behind the Mainstreet shops. However, this walkway is really small, think just wide enough for a UPS truck to drive through. And there is no other backstage access to mainstreet shops and is also the backstage area for the Jungle Cruise. If they did that it would be a logistical nightmare from a store and jungle cruise operations view point, not to mention the walkway is too small to make any kind of real impact.

I had read the same thing awhile back bumblebee. They were going to widen the back walkway.
MM, I'm also curious what the draw will be for 2013, but Carsland may still be enough that they don't need something else this year.

I would be over all delighted to have MSEP back at Disneyland, this summer, next summer or any limited magic time !!!! Since they sold all of the light bulbs it might take awhile.

I would also wager a guess that with the $$$$$$$$$ of DCA 2.0 the Princess Fantasy Faire and new Show in the Fantasyland theatre ( so happy even though they are more for kids these two things but you know how I hated the sad make shift PRINCESS meet and Greet....I am SO looking forward to seeing the PFF as I think it will be very cool addition)

But I digress. I am mad you know.

ELECTRIC PARADE would be so very cool. Why not at DCA to keep the draw there? Especially if they create a new one for MAIN ST!? Or create a new one for DCA! I am just giddy with anticipation. And a back walkway for MAIN ST USA would be a cool idea. I hear they have to use that a lot....so why not re-do it for aesthetic purposes??? It would be a treat....not open all the time but at least for busy exits....just saying.

The back walkway along Main St at WDW is both freaky (drab rears of buildings and parked cars) and fascinating ( a whole other world behind the magic). I've been directed there several times when I've arrived at the MK during parades.

I've done the one at DL once. It was dark, crowded (I think it was during Xmas and they were escorting people out during fireworks), and rushed. It felt like a movie/tv show where they're sneaking people out away from danger down a dark hallway/alley.

But what about 2013?

I don't remember there being something big every summer. And, given the scope of Carsland, it's been less than a year since that opened, so I expect that's still going to be a draw for some time to come. There are still a lot of people who haven't seen that for the first time yet. I encountered some people recently who hadn't been on the "new" Star Tours yet. Remember, not everyone gets to visit every year.

you're thinking (correctly) of the west side of Main St. The information the other site alluded to was on the East side (behind the lockers, Market House, Disneyana, etc.).

I agree - they can ride the Carsland (and New DCA!) for a couple of years. And then they will have the revamped Big Thunder for the fall, and as I said in another thread maybe the hard ticket Xmas party. Next summer in 2014 we may see one more thing at Disneyland but it will be small. They can ride this for a while still - the crowds for the most part have proven it - re-visits by locals is probably up.

The Princess Faire may not be an E ticket experience, but I think that along with a new show is a good draw for those who visit yearly. For those who visit sporadically, Carsland is deffinately a big draw still. We haven't been yet and really want to go. I don't think they really 'need' anything else this summer. And, as someone mentioned, BTMR will reopen in the fall.

This is kinda related, but I just came back from Tokyo DL and they had the Electrical Parade, with many differences, but many good ones. They had some of the classic floats, but some new ones too. Nemo, Monsters, Toy Story, Snow White, and Aladdin. What was neat about these was the technology they used with the lights, maybe they used LED, but they didn't look like LED's but it was brighter. The Genie was completely lit up with what seemed like the same technology used for advertising sign in Times Square allowing Genie to "dress up" like Pinocchio, Donald, Mickey, and change colors.

It would be neat to see some of those floats added to the parade for DL's 60th anniversary :)

MSEP's return is pretty much rumors at the moment. If it does come back, I don't think it will be part of some promotion like the "Limited Time Magic" they have now. If it does come back, it will be for something huge like maybe the 60th Anniversary which is just around the corner.

If it does come back, I'm curious to see how they intend to work MSEP back to the scheduling. I mean, during it's run at DL, it never had to contend with such an elaborate scale fireworks show that nowadays is so Main St./Hub-centric. I can only imagine Main St/Hub packed with both people camping out for Fireworks while at the same time people staking out spots for the MSEP, and also people exiting from the 1st F! show of the night.

If they buid the walkway behind the shops that was rumored a while back, then the exiting crowd would have an easier way out. I wonder if they could run the parade and Fantasmic! at the same time. Then everyone 'could' stay put for the fireworks show. Of course, I have no idea what the legistics of that would be.

I worked at DL the summer of 1997 when Light Magic was the big flop. I remember we opened this walkway a few times, once on the 4th of July, to get people out around main street.
