I saw the most awesome shirt the other day and I was told it was from DL. It shows Miceky painting himself, however he looks like Walt Disney. Has anyone seen this or is it an old shirt? I would love to get it so any help would be appreciated!

That's one of my favorite works - it's titled "Mickey's Self-Portrait". I have the framed print on my wall. :D

They used to sell the shirts at the Disneyana shop on Main Street, but it's been a few years since I've seen it.

This is a clever variation on Norman Rockwell's classic Triple Self Portrait (http://www.progressiveart.com/rockwel/rock_triple_self.htm) but if you can find the one where Walt is sitting on the stool and drawing Mickey -- that is the real prize as far as I'm concerned.

When they sent Boyer back to the drawing board to re-define what is real and what is fictional the image lost a lot of power to me. And in the second version, I think Boyer made the Mouse look more doll-like and un-alive than he had ever been drawn before. Whether this is a deliberate choice by Boyer or not, only he can say.

And the fact that Walt was drawing the old, old Mickey face says something also.

I wish. I haven't seen one in years.

Yes, it was on the back of the old APs, before DCA opened.

I got my shirt with this design at the DCA Animation Building shop. I can't remember what its called. That was over a year ago, but they may still have it.

For those of you in Florida, the shirt was available in their Art of Animation stores.
