We’ve got big news to share with you today regarding the expanded schedule for the 2012 Disneyland Candlelight Ceremony and Processional (http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2011/12/candlelight-in-motion-at-disneyland-park/). As we first told you in August (http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/08/an-early-holiday-gift-for-disneyland-guests-twenty-nights-of-disneyland-candlelight-ceremony-performances-scheduled-for-2012/), Candlelight is being extended to a total of 20 nights at Disneyland (http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/?CMP=SOC-DPFY13Q12012DisneylandCandlelightCeremonyNarrators Announced0003) park this year, for the first time in its history, with two performances each night. Below is the list of currently scheduled narrators for shows from December 1-20:

Dec. 1-2: Dennis Haysbert (actor)*
Dec. 3-5: Kurt Russell (actor and Disney Legend)
Dec. 6-8: TBA
Dec. 9-11: Lou Diamond Phillips (actor)
Dec. 12-13: Dick Van Dyke (actor and Disney Legend)
Dec. 14: Marcia Gay Harden (actress)
Dec. 15-16: Patricia Heaton (actress)
Dec. 17-19: Molly Ringwald (actress)
Dec. 20: Dennis Haysbert (actor)

Please note that narrators are subject to change without notice.

*December 1-2 performances are by invitation only, as they have been since 1958 (http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2009/12/earliest-official-candelight-photo-from-1959/), when Walt Disney first held these private celebrations to thank partners in the community for their support throughout the year.

Seriously chomping at the bit to get reservations made for this!! And I'm so excited that Dick Van Dyke will be the narrator while we're there! Although I would LOVE to hear Dennis Haysbert, too.

it may - but all I know is that normally they run the cables for power along the street, and use the ramp covers for the cables so some folks don't trip - but will that affect Main St. vehicles? not seeing the HDC coming down main st. with the christmas bells would be sad - but there is no indication yet.

Looks like my daughter is getting Lou Diamond Phillips for her performances. She's going to miss Dick Van Dyke by one day!

Wow I guess I didn't realize that CP goes every night for the first 20 nights in December. We usually just avoid Main Street when we have been there during CP in the past but avoiding it for a few nights seems easier than avoiding it every night of our vacation...

We live in Washington, so we have never been during the Candlelight Processional. Our trip is for the first weekend, Dec 1-2. Does the park close? What should we expect, as far as crowds go? We were hoping this time of December would be better than closer to Christmas...I'm worried that we won't be able to enjoy our short time there. Last year, we went between Christmas & New Years and there were way to many people!!

Can someone clarify if the performances for December 1 and 2 will not be open to the public at all? I saw that it has been by invitation only since 1958. Who is invited to this event? Media, charities, celebrities?

BTW - my source which does operations scheduling mentioned that yes, if they do the shows on Main St, the vehicles will not be in use the entire 20 days. That statement alone made me think if they're still considering the Fantasyland Theater. Maybe someone should take some pics of the theater construction (over some walls) to see if they are moving in that direction.

I think those showings will be to limit the seating area to Club33 and maybe D23 members.

Disney has twice confirmed it's showing on Main Street as normal.

Main Street vehicles can run in the morning and early afternoon before parades start. The Stage is close to the curb anyway and gives plenty of room for vehicles to circle the square.

Some pictures of the setup are at the top of this update.

i was not focused on the stage - but instead on the cables and cable covers across the streets... which my contact said the vehicles COULD cross but usually don't. and the horse car would not.

Oh, good! Maybe I can figure out a way to make it to the one on the 1st. I wouldn't mind standing.

This is the first year they're trying this.

We had the pleasure of seeing Dick Van Dyke at the Candlelight Procession several years ago, and it was absolutely my favorite one ever.

It's actually media, individuals, and local businesses etc. that do business with Disney throughout the year.

I wish they'd hurry up and announce the Dining program details! It's the best way to see the show at WDW, I hope the program is similar!
