Special Hotel Packages Will Shine When X Games Comes to L.A.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 2003--Families who plan to travel to Downtown Los Angeles this August to view X Games IX can book a special hotel package that includes a one-of-a-kind commemorative X Games poster.
More than 300 action sports athletes from around the world -- representing the best in their respective sports -- will compete at X Games IX. Competitions in Bike Stunt, Moto X, Skateboard and Aggressive In-line Skate will be held inside and around STAPLES Center from Aug. 14-17. The Moto X Freestyle event will be held at the Los Angeles Coliseum at night under the lights. More than 20 hours of original programming on the X Games will air Aug. 16 to 21 on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC. X Games Events taking place at STAPLES Center and the LA Coliseum require a ticket. Tickets may be purchased from Ticketemaster.
The X Games L.A. hotel packages feature 23 hotels located throughout the city. The package can also include tickets to Universal Studios Hollywood -- home of the all-new multi-sensory "Shrek 4-D(TM)" attraction and "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibit" at the California Science Center.
Additionally, 25 attractions are offering kids free admission with the purchase of an adult ticket. Participating attractions include the Autry Museum of Western Heritage, Six Flags Magic Mountain, the Los Angeles Zoo and the Los Angeles Philharmonic concerts at the Hollywood Bowl. Even getting to L.A. is fun with Amtrak offering two children-ride-free tickets with a paying adult aboard California trains. Kids Free tickets are available with the purchase of adult tickets; restrictions and availability vary. For schedules, fares and reservations, visit Amtrak's Web site at www.amtrak.com. Universal Studios Hollywood, the world's largest movie studio and theme park, has just introduced the all-new "Shrek 4-D(TM)," a multi-sensory, multi-media continuation of DreamWorks Pictures' Academy Award-winning blockbuster "Shrek." Picking up where the movie left off, the attraction combines original 3-D animation, state-of-the-art digital cinema projections and audio systems along with unique in-theater sensory immersion that physically expands the Shrek characters and their world to create a four-dimensional entertainment experience.
At the California Science Center, the glamour of the Titanic has resurfaced as visitors to "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibit" are transformed into modern-day passengers and transported back in time. Visitors feel as if they are experiencing a typical day aboard the famed White-Star ocean liner as they explore room recreations, scour the many recovered artifacts and learn about the science and technology behind the ship's design and recovery effort. A unique element of the exhibit is "The Striking" gallery, where guests can touch an "iceberg." The exhibit also reveals the technology used to raise the artifacts from the depths of the ocean floor including a 15-ton section of the hull, the largest artifact ever recovered.
