So I was checking out the huge auction of sci-fi stuff on eBay that Slashdot reported, and lo and behold, up for a sale, one of the mini-Atomobile from the ATIS microscope! Bidding starts at $1000 though.. ouch..

Heh, that is so cool! Sad (that it's being auctioned off), but cool.

Just a geek thing, but....

The description runs thus:
49. Disneyland miniature from the Inner Space amusement park ride. Miniature car from the Inner Space ride at Disneyland with two clay figures, painted to resemble father and son visitors to the park. This piece was made to give the impression that those on the ride had actually been shrunken for a voyage to "Inner Space" - the human body. Measures approx. 10 in. tall. $2,000 - $3,000

Please note that "Inner Space - The Human Body" is incorrect - it's Body Wars in WDW that goes through the human body - Inner Space (as you all know) only went into the water molecules etc. of a snowflake.

I HATE when sellers get it wrong...

Most interesting. I was just reading in the latest issue of the E Ticket magazine about how valuable these little items have become. Excellent article about ATIS, with great construction photos!

That's ok, I would not have purchased it at even $1,000.

Besides, there are a lot of fakes going around the auction circuit. The thing would have to have Marty Sklar's DNA all over it for me to bid as much as $300.
