View Full Version : Stuck On Small World

I was on IASW last night with the family, and we were on the ride about 7:25 P.M., when it stopped. It took a good ten minutes before it started again. During that time, there were periodic announcements about the ride being down due to "minor" tech difficulties--whatever that meant--and that a CM would arrive shortly to assist.

At least they shut the music off after the first couple of minutes. I was taping some of the scenes around us of the characters moving without the music. That was surreal. After the boats started moving again, the sound was left off as we moved through the remainder of the ride and out. No further explaination was given, and the CM at the exit wouldn't (or couldn't) comment on what happend. The ride was then closed.

It looked for a time like this would have been the second ride I have walked-off in the last year (the other being POTC; that took well over an hour before we walked out). Has anyone else been stuck on Small World, or have been escorted off a ride due to breakdown?

I had to walk off Indy once right at the very end, on the down slope after the huge ball comes at you. The funny thing is, that's pretty much the end of the ride, but we still got passes to go to the head of the line for another ride. Since we had pretty much done all of Indy, we just used it on another ride.

I've gotten to evacuate POTC, Pinnochio, and Pooh. I'm still waiting for the chance to get stuck in Space Mountain and Indy. POTC was the most fun cause they turned us loose in the "bowels of disneyland" unsupervised. On Pinnochio I kept tripping over the track and you'd be amazed at how low some of those ceilings are.

I was on IASW once when it broke down. Our boat was near the exit. A CM came and escorted us off the boat one by one onto the blue sidewalk. I don't know what happened or how they unloaded the other boats. The CM was really courteous.

I've been stuck on 5 rides in one day (I think I'm just unlucky) :fez:

I was stuck on Indy, POTC, Space, The Monorail, and the Matterhorn. It was fun :fez:

Next time space is open DF, I'm riding with you!!! ;) I've always wanted to ride that one with the lights on, granted getting evacuated off any of the rides would be cool.... It would be bad that the ride broke, but cool cause I'm a Disney :geek: . Not too sharp at trivia sometimes, but it happens.

I've broken down in Space twice. :D
We were also stuck on IASM, as we had to push the boat back, and onto an exit ramp.
Apparently, from what I found out, the Software that controls the Dock, was refusing to work. :D

I've been stuck on small world (1996) and it was AWEFUL!!! First we were at the end of the ride...so close to getting off, then we were stopped for about 5 minutes (they DID NOT turn the music off) then we ended up riding BACKWARD!!! Through the entire ride! With music on, then we got about 2/3 the way back and the ride stopped again, this was about 30 minutes into the ride breaking down and finally they turned the music off, but then we were stuck by the drummers in one of the scenes, but they didn't turn the dolls off, trust me the drumming sound was worse! Finally they fixed the ride and we then had to travel the 2/3 way thought he ride with music back on, so pretty much I was in the ride for almost one hour including the time it took to first go through the ride before it broke and the music was only off for 15 minutes! We went to Disneyland in 1997, 1998 and 1999 and we didn't ride IASW until our 1999 trip!.

No wonder, the faboulus 1963 tracks were not back in yet. It was that EuroDisneyland mesh of a soundtrack. :)

Got stuck on POTC. Got to wonder around backstage, and that was the best part of the trip. Was suprised at how disorganized the evacuation was considering that they do seem to do this quite often.

We got escorted off BTMRR last week. Ride shut down at the base of the first outdoor chain incline. We were in the first car and we had just started to climb. CMs escorted us off and out through backstage and first dark tunnel. Noticed two hidden mickeys. At the point of our stopping there are two sets of gears on the ground - one large and one small.

About 15 years ago, we were riding Alice late at night and it stopped. We evacuated along the track and through a door that led us through some props and surplus Alice paint supplies. Came out by the back of the castle.

I can't top that, amarvel, but it could have been worse for us if they left the music on--we were right by the "gargling" mermaids!!

I was waiting to board space when it broke down and the lights came on, know this may sound stupid but i had no idea the track was right there i always thought there was a huge wall inbetween the track and the boarding area

I thought I heard you had a breakdown, I just didn't realize it was in Space!;)

Rides I "walked off" (This should be a new thread)

Matterhorn (Took the elevator down, the old one)

Splash

People Mover (walked along the outdoor track to the roof of the skyway loading in TL. Ah, the memories!)

Space Mount. (Lighs came on, saw track, coasted to the unloading)

And while not broken, I walked the Snow White with lights on, no sound, everything working durring an AP party. Cool seeing how everything works!:fez: :geek:

I've been stuck on IASW a few times now. I remember the first time was kinda fun because it was with a group of MP'ers (before there was MP). We got stuck in Canada and a few people actually had to get off of the ride in order for it to continue.

I remember being stuck on Big Thunder Mountain right before one of the big dips. We had to walk off. It was an interesting experience.

I meant that every other time i go its so dark i couldn't see the track and had no idea that you could see the track from the loading are that there was some wall or something blocking your view

I remember walking through the Roger Rabbit ride with everything on cept the music for an AP event. I think it was in 1995 - something like that. I know it was around Disneylands 40th anniversary. During that same event I got to walk through the temple and up to the loading area for the Indiana Jones ride before it opened. And before this I listened to a presentation and watched a slideshow of the different sections of the ride given by some of the designers. I dont remember exactly what this event was for lol - but thinking back, it was pretty damn cool :p
