From today's DIG (8/22/01) regarding the Bears replacement, Pooh and the clever bouncing effect"

'WDI fought over it fiercely with the accountants and execs who didn't think it was worth the expense"

These accountants, that Al spoke of, just don't have a clue. DCA attendance is not living up to its expectations and people are furious over the detailing and entertainment value of TDS over anything stateside.

You'd think that with the opening and rave reviews TDS is getting, they'd learn.

Perhaps this IS only reason the bouncing effect has been reinstated (the failure of DCA, et al). If those cheap rides had been a hit with the public, the lower budget would likely prevail, as the consumer would be perceived as having no clue to this "value added" effect.

It may be that someone is finally waking up to the fact that the consumer expects/demands more from the Disney "brand" and that its their job and duty to provide product BEYOND expectations (or they shouldn't have that job). This is a minor concession, but still a reversal of recent trend.
