I've been seeing the pictures of Matterhorn's redo and I have to say that I don't like it. On another site they keep saying how good it looks, and maybe it does in person, but in the pics I'm not a fan. I like more snow on it and it seems like they put less snow and showed more rock. Wondering what other opinions are on this.

Was there last Sunday and it is really hard to tell. I am not sure about the new cars just as long as we have enough room for knees of tall "old guys":~D

To me, it doesn't look like there is necessarily less snow, just that the rock is much darker, making it appear so. My understanding is that this is the first true repaint of the rock since it was built in 1959. So it's likely this is how it was meant to and originally looked and they are just finally getting around to restoring it!

Looking at the pictures my knee-jerk reaction is "it's different, and it was fine before, why is it different?" However, since seeing some of the pictures I've taken the opportunity to look at some of the big snowy mountains that are conveniently located all around where I live, and I must say the new paint job honestly looks much more realistic. It'll take some getting used to, but I do think the new look is superior.

Also, compared to the REAL Matterhorn, this new paint job looks much more realistic as well. The real Matterhorn is a very dark rock covered in wind-swept snow. It isn't covered in a thick blanket.

Here's a pic of the real Matterhorn for comparison (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/65/Matterhorn-EastAndNorthside-viewedFromZermatt_landscapeformat-2.jpg)

I guess it depends on what time of year you look at it. On the Bachelor it had quite a bit more snow on it than the pic you posted. But I guess the dark rock is more realistic but I like how it looked before.

Not a big fan of the dark rock so far, it looks like wet cement to me. That is just from the pics I've seen, now real life it might look really good.

Will have to wait till we get back down to DL to see if we like it or not.

I have actually had the same concern. I'm happy to wait till it's all done. Then I'll do some comparisons between recent pics and brand new ones before I make up my mind. And even if I don't exactly like it right off the bat, I'm sure I'll get used to it!

There's quite a few in last week's Dateline Disneyland (http://micechat.com/blogs/dateline-disneyland/3337-one-more-disney-day-recap-road-cars-land-buena-vista-details-matterhorn-paint.html) over on MiceChat. There's more in this week's as well, but I think last week's gives the best close ups.

There was a really nice photo in MousePlanet's weekly DL update. It's near the end. It is really nicely framed by the blossoms on the trees, as well.

I like it so far. I went back and looked at pictures and I think once it is all done, it will look amazing!

I just looked at the old picture and the REAL Matterhorn and think the new job they are doing is very much an improvement indeed. It looks like a real mountain now. SO cool that ONLY Disneyland has a Matterhorn. I look SO forward to the single rider line. I did like the old cars but more movement will be great. And I hope it is smoother but you can't have everything. I also hope that they send the cars through at the same time. When you "race" the other side around the Matterhorn it is more fun and seems like they are going faster. That has not happened to me for at least ten years. It won't happen my next trip as it will be next month. Ah well......Hopefully it will be pretty much done being painted so I can at least enjoy the scenery.

How will the glistening snow white stand up to a couple of summers worth sun baked smog? Just a question.

It looks to me like it has a little less snow. (how did I end up with two pictures on this posting?)

Thanks I like the old snowy look but the new look is more real but the look does not matter just as long as it's stilla good fun fast moving ride.
