The Cove Bar (Avalon Cove Bar, Cove Deck, the place above Ariel's Grotto in DCA) will be getting a new menu this week, that will include Buffalo Wings :D

Also, the bar is now open 7 days a week for the summer season....

But will the prices be any more reasonable? I stopped by in May, and was shoked at the prices for an apitizer and drink. Left without ordering a thing.

I just read it - lobster nachos:p - I have to draw the line somewhere and that would be it!

I would be happy to sit and sip though - what a lovely view!

The prices at the bar are totally in line with any other restaurant. Unfortunately, $7 for a martini is pretty cheap these days. And, the appetizers are meant to be shared.

I DO recommend the lobster nachos! :D

Darkbeer,
Thanks for posting the menu. I now don't need to stop by to figure out that I don't want to pay that much to have a snack there.

Ooo, cool, crab cakes and pizza. Hmmmm, we'll have to go back and try those. The calamari was really good, and we liked the nachos as well, though the lobster part was uninspiring.

Yes, but with TWO crabcakes, you get ONE each? Those wings look pretty good though, Darkbeer! A bottle of brew and half those wings would be refreshing when shared with a good freind (even if it would cost $20 something for it:eek: !).

Kewl! We'll have to check that out during our adults only trip in July!!!

One of my friends joining me LOVES calamari and has to try it everything, throw in a drink and he's happy as a clam! LOL

As for me I think I'll try that spinach/artichoke dip, YUM

:D

Okay, so maybe the crab cakes you don't share. They are new, and I haven't had them yet. I'm still saying that the prices are fair compared to other bars, when they could be charging way more.

I'll be sure to remember the new appitizer menu next time I have $$ to spend at the parks. I am always looking for a new place to eat, and I often get appitizers as meals.

Thanks for sharing!!!!!!

other than the lobster nachos (fish and cheese? pleh!), sounds good. I never really go on that side of the park but I'll have to try it out sometime.

It's not really all that expensive; seems comparable to the appetizer menu prices at most chain restaurants and such.

Here are a few more photos...

Artichoke Dip (http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4088391&a=30745482&p=63963335&f=0)

Crab Cakes (http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4088391&a=30745482&p=63963336&f=0)

Some of the wonderful staff at the Cove Bar (http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4088391&a=30745482&p=63963337&f=0)

FYI, the Chicken Lettuce Wrap might be coming back, they have had a few requests for it...

They are also thinking about serving 3 Crab Cakes, not 2.

You know, it still seems wrong to me. A bar in a Disney park?

Next thing you know, they'll be releasing PG-13 movies under the Disney Studios brand... They'll be making whole lands themed to "cheap unthemed amusement park" or "run down military base". They'll be releasing TV animation quality movies to the big screen and making low quality sequals to every classic. They'll flood the market with cheap products, then not be able to figure out why customers can't find the diamonds in the ice bucket.

Disney had a solid reputation for family entertainment and top quality. They could charge top price for that. Now, it seems to me, they are doing everything they can to ruin that reputation. I know they are going after new customers, but are they too dumb to realize that they will lose their current customers.

Maybe someone should propose a movie based on the Aesop fable about one in the hand being better than two in the bush. Eisner would probably think it was a brand new concept.

Hmmm, interesting to hear. We tried those, and I didn't think they were that good. Now, the lettuce wraps at Chili's on the other hand...

I hope they do. At more than $5 per crab cake, as much as I like good crab cake, I won't be ordering that. 3 crab cakes for almost $11 would be much more reasonable, even inside a Disney park.

Thanks for the pictures. Now I know what to order and not to order.

I can't fathom even $11 for four crabcakes. Perhaps six, but NOT 2 or even 3...........

Now the Artichoke dip looks good, and resonable. Or the wings.

Yeah, but if that park is DCA, then I need a bar!

I could eat every single thing on that menu.

Re: the comments on crab cakes, yep they're expensive, but a good crab cake really will cost you that much. I mean, I'd pay up if it were a really good crab cake with jumbo lumps, etc., mmm, I'm gettin' hungry! I'll definitely go try it at least once!
