I really don't know where to look, so I guess I'll start here. I'm looking for a shared apartment/house near Disneyland (within bus/bike ride distance) with one or two decently behaved non-smoking females. Basically I HAVE to get out of my current house due to abusive family members and not being allowed to use basic amenities by the same. (just a power play on their part..I can't take a shower or use the clothes washer to name two.) I don't drive yet but I'm learning, either way my main mode of transportation will be my bicycle. I don't know how much rent I can afford (you all know how 'well' disney pays) but I'll do the best I can. The biggest hurdle are my pets; two small dogs (ten pound range) and several caged pet rats. I can not and will not leave them behind, especially the ailing 17 year old terrier mix. They are all well-behaved, friendly and well cared for though. Does anyone here know where I should start looking? Getting desperate here..pretty soon I won't even be allowed to use my own computer or give my dogs water since it requires 'their' utilities. Help!

First sorry to hear about your troubles...

I really dont know if this is really the right place for this attraction but i will go for it.

Most appartment complexs will not allow animals, especially in the mass quanties that you are talking about, nor will most people want to live with a buch of rats and dogs in a small space like an appartment. So you are really limiting your options here.

Heres my problem with your post... Do you already have a job with Disney... becuase if you are not old enough to drive you arnt old enough to work for disney.

Good luck on your journey

I'm 24 and do work at the park. I have bad vision (can barely see the big E on eye test without my glasses) and the dmv gave a truckload of red tape over it, otherwise I'd have been driving a long time ago. I've had my learner's permit for a few months now. And yes, I know my options are limited but I am not giving my pets up. I've had that terrier mix since I was 10 and love her dearly. The other is a rescued mini-poodle who has bad knees due to careless breeding and needs special care. Not that you'd know by meeting him, despite gimpy legs he's an insanely, goofily happy little mutt. No one would take him, not when he'll probably need one of those little dog-wheelchair thingies in a few years. They are both fixed, housebroken and neither are barkers. The rats..what can be done with domestic pet rats other than give them to a petstore for snake food? Few keep them as pets, sad to say. These are not 'just' animals to me; they are family and that's that. It won't be hard to find roommates who like animals..the hard part is finding an affordable apartment that accepts them. The rats aren't the problem anyway..a small caged rodent pet was of no more concern to the complexes I've called than a goldfish or a parakeet. The dogs are another manner.

You could try checking the CM portal, they have some listings for roommates and whatnot.

You can also post ads around backstage.

It's the intranet portals that they've set up at the Inn Between, Westside Diner, and a few other places that I can't remember at the moment. Just sign up and on one of the pages you can look up roommates, among other things.

It's cool since you can check your paycheck and schedule and stuff, and you can also access it from home, but you need to sign up using one of the consoles at work.

In addition to the Cast Portal, there are also hard copies of those classified ads at Harbor House, right where you pick up the CM reference guides. It's called "Wheeling and Dealing." Like Phil mentioned, some people also post "roommate wanted" ads backstage and at the K-Lot shuttle stops, so you might wanna check there too.

Hope that helps, and good luck to you!

https://enterpriseportal.disney.com -- the address isn't exactly a secret, since you can't do anything without a login anyway :)

Note that if you haven't registered for it yet you'll have to do it from on-property. There are kiosks in most break rooms, as well as the cast cafes and team centers.
