So my son read somewhere that there are some plans to add an mechanical bear to the ride in the cave or something like that.

Anyone else heard of that?

I think the idea would be a good one, like the monster in the Matterhorn.

That would be a nice addition! However, I dont see them taking another ride offline to install a component until the other renovations are done.

Probably true, though winter would be the best time to do this since ridership of the Grizzly goes way down...

I know that was part of the initial plans for the ride, so that could be the beginning and end of this rumor. However, it's definitely something I could see happening and would add a nice little touch to the ride.

They should add the snoring bear they used to have in a cave in Bear Country.. But they should add it on the walking trail that goes behind the ride near the drop.

Cool Idea.

I would love to see a grizzley pop out and swing his arm over the water as you pass through the cave.

If they do add a bear they'll have to take down the 50ft bear at the entrance unless it's a cartoony bear. Maybe they'll use a country bear. ;)

....And isn't that a nice touch by Holland America, showing us what Grizzly bears look like in the wild.

The Brer Bear soundtrack is the same one that was used for Rufus.

They look more like Kodiaks than grizzlies to me.

How about combining the two. A bear with crab claws.

Holland America is a cruise line, but I'm not exactly sure how it ties into this thread.

Do they sponsor the ride, perhaps have something to do with the large bear at the entrance?

That would be so cute, but I totally agree that they're not going to pull anything down for a refurb before Buena Vista Street and Cars Land are completed.

The day he posted that comment, we had a Holland America banner ad at the top of this page that had bears on it. He said grizzlies, they looked more like Kodiaks to me.

I'd love to see several animatronic animals added, maybe a dozen, but you don't see them all every time. Have a few showpiece creatures like bears or Elk, and some minor critters like porcupines or marmots. Then you never know what you might see, just like in the real mountains.

A bientot.
