Okay, I went to DL yesterday, and one of (the many) changes I noticed was that the panther you can see from the train in Adventureland is no longer there! Does anyone know why?

I noticed that a few weeks ago. I can only assume that they took it out during the railroad refurb. Was the panther's growl still in the recording?

Now that is tacky to have the growl and not the panther. Hopefully it is just out temporarily.

Maybe the panther is now lurking in the bushes, ready to bounce on unsuspecting train riders! It could happen! ;)

Maybe Disney has obtained the rights to the Pink Panther and he's just having his fur died ;)

I too miss the panther, but I thought with the new railroad recording you hear a trumpet of an elephant before the announcer goes "Uh-oh, did you folks hear that? It looks like we're entering the wilds of Adventureland..."

It does that, and you can also hear the panther growl

This reminds me of when they removed one of the vultures from splash mountain. they are probably just refurbing the panther?
so, probably in a few weeks, or two months, it will return.

Wouldnt it be cool to see where the rehab the panther? Do CMs have a name for our jungle friend?

The panther is one of the coolest things to see at Disneyland (besides Maynard.) :fez:

But perhaps that's now changed - and reason he's not stiffly perched on a boulder is that he's now wandering the jungle with the other ferel Kitties in the park.

That roaming dino is just a code name for Maynard 2.0. ;)

... There was a panther?
I can not remember this. Anyone have a picture? I have a picture of the doghouse with "Indianna" painted above the entrance hole. Can we post stuff like that here?

Did you know that when fully grown, a panther can weigh up to 5,000 pounds and jump over 25 feet?

I also saw that. It was the plush "Bagheera" from Jungle Book - maybe a cheap marketing ploy for Jungle Book 2?

I guess even the DLRR has been "Eisnerized" now. :(

Maybe it is out for rehab, and the plush one was just a prank my a CM?

And why is a roar and no animal lame? Maybe it's hiding in the jungle.

Oh yeah, isnt it a bobcat, not a panther?
