What is the average temp in early November? I am wondering if my family will be able to enjoy a heated pool without freezing. Is it warm enough during the day to swim?

Usually it's not too bad in late October/early-November, so swimming should be fine as along as it's heated, which i believe you said it was.....so you should be fine. Just getting out of the water might be a little freezing, so just make sure all of the towels are right there, hehe. *shivers*

From the looks of my packing list we wore t-shirts and jeans in the morning, shorts during the day, and turtlenecks and jeans in the evenings. Light jackets/sweatshirts were packed, but not used.

Be prepared for both high and low temps. The fall in SoCal can be under the influence of Santa Ana winds, hot and dry, for a few days and then have a cold Pacific storm blow in, or low clouds and fog. Every year is a little bit different. I recall the best beach weather one year was January and February. Averages aren't good predictors. One thing for sure, the weather is usually better than where you came from.....Usually.

When we went in Nov. 2002 the 7th-11th, i
t rained the 7th and 8th all day
rained part of the day on the 9th
and was in the high 70's to low 80's the 10th and 11th.

When we went in Nov. 2000 the 18th-21st it was in the 70's during the day and 60's at night the whole time. We did jeans and t's and sweatshirts and light jackets.
